How much would you spend on a week in Caribbean on Feb half term?

Single mum, two children (5 and 8)

I want to treat us to a holiday in Feb half term. I don’t need culture. We just need sun, sand and chill out time.

So I’ve settled on DR. Been there before and ticks the boxes.

However I’ve shopped around and can’t find 7 nights for less than £3k. In fact the hotel I have heart set on (majestic colonial), I can’t get for less than £3700.

Is this about what you’d expect to pay? Or perhaps if I wait for later on in the year prices will drop?
I have spent hours and hours researching and I just can’t find cheaper! But if this the norm to pay for Feb half term, then I’ll book it tonight!

Thanns

5 and 8 i’d Take them during term time we’d 16 days in January in Barbados for 4 of us Staying at an AirBnB for 2400 flights and accommodation spent about another grand on car hire and food. Plenty of eating out.

That price was already taking them out for two days. I may well look in to taking them out for a few more days.

Thank you!

We have been to the same hotel in St Lucia for the past three years in Feb half term. The first two years we paid around £4k for the four of us. Last year it shot up to £5k and its looking even higher at the moment this year, so I doubt we'll be going. And that's with being able to utilise an inset day so it's not as much as it would have been. Apparently the dollar exchange rate has really pushed prices up. I have to say if you can afford it, getting away in the winter to the hot sunshine is amazing!
