Am going to Amsterdam next month and looking for some recommendations beyond the usual (anne franks, van gough etc)

We went to Moeders restaurant which was qwerky and good. Dutch food with photos of mothers everywhere. You take a photo of your mother and they stick it up. Lovely staff.

Hi OP - we're just going to move this over to Travel so that it doesn't disappear, but please do get in touch if you have any problems at all Flowers

Take the free ferry to North Amsterdam, from behind Centraal station to NDSM Wharf, and explore the cool industrial area. Pllek - very cool bar / restaurant made from old shipping containers.

I second this - Pllek is brilliant! We went to the wharf in winter so a lot of places were a bit shut, but in summer I'd imagine there's a lot more going on.

Make sure you have rijstaffel - I've been to Blauw and Kantjiil & De Tiger, both a bit busy/touristy but the food is amazing.

All the buildings are cool to be honest, you don't have to go far for great architecture.

I'm an Amsterdam blogger and your question is literally what I set up my whole blog to answer!

Take a look and let me know if I can help with anything x

Thanks so much for the blog @tracelab, we took a few things from it and our highlight was Loetje...what a lovely spot and the food was amazing!

Been to Amsterdam a few times. This year we caught bus in central train station to small, historic village of Zaanse Schans beautiful windmills and wooden houses. Also went to film museum, get free ferry behind central train station, for films and great views. Wandering round the canals like the small markets.

Brilliant! I’m so thrilled. Thank you so much for letting me know! We had lunch at Loetje yesterday too 😊
