Where to find a holiday

Dh and I are celebrating 20 years of marriage this year and MIL has offered to have ds so we can go away.

We know we want to go somewhere on a plane with some culture and touristy things. As it's the October half term it's working out where to go.

We're thinking Budapest or Prague but where do I look to possibly book myself. Happy to work it all out myself.

Seville or venice are lovely, and romantic. Budapest and Prague are a little more rough around the edges and can be a bit stag do territory. I'd book flights then get an airbnb. That's the easiest way to do it yourself.

Budapest is huge and amazing- lots to do - don’t be put off by stag dos. I’ve never noticed them. It’s a brilliant city and not rough at all. Air b n b it or there are loads of good hotels- very good value. Prague is small, not much going on and you do notice the stag dos a bit more, but again don’t let that put you off!

Definitely Budapest- they call it the Paris of the East!

My top recs for Budapest are:

Stay in Pest - Andrassy ut
Visit Szchenyi, Gellert or Rudas Baths
Opera house (excellent productions & you can afford a box here!)
House of terror
Free walking tour inc castle district
Valley of the ladies- wine tasting
Shoes on the Danube
Restaurants: Menza, Mazel Tov
360 Bar and ruin bars
St Stephens basilica roof

It’s such a great city Grin
