take my 2 yr old dd heavy britax car seat away with me for transfer to and from airport. I have looked at the high back booster seats which have an internal harness so it is not the adult seat belt that goes round her.

What does everyone else do?

We use Addison Lee in the UK for our UK airport transfers, and they bring a VW Sharon, which has a built-in child seat, suitable for this age. (Not for rear-facing babies, though.)

If we really aren't going to be in cars at the other end at all, we take a booster seat, or we try to use a bus or train for airport transfers, to reduce risk.

Where are you going? How long are the transfers?

Or ring around taxi firms and see if any provide car seats.

Failing that - if you use one firm regularly and book them for to and from the airport maybe they could hold your car-seat for you while you are away?

the seat isnt for transfer here it is for when we get to cyprus. I was going to buy a high back booster with integral herness rather than taking the great big heavy car seat. The transfer from airport to accommodation is about 30 mins i would not feel comfortable with her just sat with a normal seat belt on.

In Cyprus we found there were minibus type things, which are safer than regular cars, that did the rounds of the hotels. We used one of those.

If you are travelling with a car seat, I think it's best to put it inside your luggage if you can - that's what we've done when travelling with one.

Ah - I see. Is it a hotel transfer? We've just booked one for Spain and were offered a booster seat. Maybe ask if they can provide one? Ours will be 6 pounds each way.

no, we are staying in a villa and she is only two so would just a booster seat i.e. the cushion part be a bit dangerous. I am a really worry when it comes to things like this.
