Looking to go last week in August. We'd like to take the tunnel and drive ourselves. Looking to have 3 nights in a hotel close by with 2 days at the park. Would also like to stop for a night on way back to tunnel somewhere so dc's can experience a little bit of France.

I've had a look online but as so much came up I wondered if anyone could share tips on what they've done and in particular how to keep the cost down.

Thanks

The cheapest way is to camp. There are lots of good quality family campsites within very easy reach of DL. Most are about a 20-25 minute drive and there's one which is just 9km from the park. You needn't stay in a tent; many have static caravans. Most of them do free shuttles to and from the park. There are restaurants and food outlets at the campsites but if you take your own and self cater, it will keep costs even lower.

You can get discounts on tickets if you book them through Eurotunnel when you book your shuttle crossing.

Agree, camping nearby. Paris Est in a mobile home would be worth looking at. If you prefer a hotel the the Kyriad is probably the best bet.

I don't think its ever going to be cheap in august...

We went in feb. Flew with easyjet then straight from airport to the park via train. I don't see why you would need a car there.

We had a full board and stayed at the boat club type disney hotel for 5 days (4 nights) and it cost around £400per person. We didnt spend anything else as we were walking distance and had full board. August will be rammed too. We walked on virtually all rides.

Magicbreaks.com seemed to be the cheapest way - camping after traipsing round all day sounds like hell, as does driving when flights are so cheap and quick!

Thanks all, we prefer driving and want to stop at other places along the way which we couldn't do if flying. Didn't think of camping so will look into that.

Another vote for camping.

When ours were young we camped at a site (might have been Jablines) close to the train to Disneyland. We took the train in from there first time but if you get there early parking isn't too bad either.

A friend also gave me her Rough Guide to Eurodisney (as it was then) which was invaluable. The guide outlined which rides to do first, best gates to use etc which saved us a huge amount of time queuing on the first visit so the kids had far more ride time.

We waited until there was a good offer on - buy 2 nights, get 2 nights free in a disney hotel. Meant we got 5 days of park tickets.

Compared prices a lot and went thru expedia using a cash back site and got 12% cashback.

Got the ferry, drove down the day before and stayed overnight in Reims - cheap deal on the novotel. Then an hour? 90mins? Drive the next morning so got there in good time. Checked in, able to do park gently. Hotel close enough to walk to. Went back to it when tired to relax and have a swim and then back to the park, refreshed. Mixture of eating in the park and out. Went to the local massive shopping centre for cheap but nice restaurants and a massive hypermarket for diy picnics.

Last day did a couple of favourite things (being in disney hotels gets you in early) then drove to Arras. Stayed overnight in Holiday Inn Express - again a cheap deal, massive family room, inclusive breakfast. Nice town to wander around. Drove back to Calais, popped into massive out of town shoping centre and hypermarket for stuff to take home. Ferry back (booked in advance so cheap)

Think we paid £800 for the disney 5 day ticket and b&b accommodation, about £100 return for the ferry and about £60/room/night for each extra hotel at the start/end of the holiday.

Worked really well for us but we did want to spend a bit longer away and see some other bits of France too...

bunbunny thank you that's really interesting. What time of year did you do this and where did you find the good offer for the Disney hotel and park tickets, on the Disneyland website?
