Emergency passport

Need to urgently get an emergency passport for my Dd. It's her first adult one and we need a counter signatory.

Can my neighbour do it? They are British passport holders and work for the nhs Admin

All advice appreciated. Appointment in the morning.

Hi
Yes, as long as they have known you and can provide a valid British passport number that should be fine

I had to get my own and little ones forms countersigned in an emergency and got my neighbour to do it who is a private hire driver and it was accepted

So hopefully you shouldn't have any problem. Good luckSmile

Could you clarify - do you mean an emergency travel document?

Or a normal passport that you need urgently?

she326 · 25/05/2018 23:05

Thank you for the replies. It's her first uk adult passport.

I want to get neighbour to do it but she is adamant that it won't be accepted as they are not RGN or Drs or a professional!! 🙄

Has she had a child passport? It would be done as a renewal if she has

dementedpixie · 25/05/2018 23:09

Does she need a countersignatory ? Is she recognisable from her existing picture?

AgentProvocateur · 25/05/2018 23:09

There’s a list of people who can sign the photos. It’s generally professionals, so probably not an admin worker.

she326 · 25/05/2018 23:12

She looks exactly the same just older.

She has two child passports. But this will be her first adult one. And the form dictates she needs to get photos countersigned.

A first adult passport is for when you've never had a child passport. As she has had child ones then she is doing a renewal and shouldn't need a countersignarure unless her appearance has changed

dementedpixie · 25/05/2018 23:19

Apply for a first adult passport if you’re aged 16 or over (or will be within 3 weeks) and never had a child passport.

dementedpixie · 25/05/2018 23:23

From .gov site:

Your child is over 16 (or will be in 3 weeks) and had a British child passport.

Follow the process forrenewing or replacing an adult passport

rainbowdashflip · 25/05/2018 23:29

Has her passport expired?

she326 · 25/05/2018 23:33

It expires in 4 months so she will need a new one to travel to Asia and the Middle East.

I have booked an appointment for an emergency passport . Just want to make sure I have everything I need don't want to be turned away for not having it countersigned.

It definitely doesn't need countersigned as it's a renewal not a first passport.

She can travel on it until it expires but obviously only to countries that allow with so little time left.

eggncress · 25/05/2018 23:39

My dd renewed her passport aged 17; her last one showed a pic of an 8 year old and she didn’t need counter signature. She applied 2 weeks ago online and the new one arrived yesterday. Try going online ... even if it’s a first adult passport it’s still just a renewal if she’s had a passport before

Effendi · 28/05/2018 08:35

I'm confused about what you need.
An emergency passport or emergency travel document is only issued overseas at embassies/consulates.
Do you live abroad?

If not you just need to do a normal renewal and pay to fast track it if you can.

dementedpixie · 28/05/2018 08:44

OP had an appointment to get the new passport. Hopefully it got sorted out ok
