Another child with a different surname question...

DP and I have different surnames
DD has her dad's surname and my (very unusual) surname as her middle name.
We will be travelling as a family, but will be going through different queues when we enter the destination country (as DP has a dual citizenship with this country) DD will be with me, and DP will be going through alone.

Is this likely to cause issues?

I would think you all need to pass through the same immigration line together as a family group. Have you actually contacted the Embassy of the country you are going to visit?.

My family has often travelled with one person having different immigration status than the other(s). We've always gone through together, as a family.

Oh can you do that? It's the US and DP is a citizen, but DD and I aren't.

Yes you can with US/UK (that's our combo too).

Thanks! That should simplify things a lot Flowers

DD has my surname as a second middle name, and DH’s surname. Hasn’t ever caused us any trouble.

Tumilnaughts · 26/05/2018 14:00

I'm a US citizen and DH and DD aren't. They still come through the same line as me. We've never had a problem.

With regards to the surname issue in general, I have only ever been questioned about this when returning to the UK. I have no idea what the point of this can be (to protect UK children from being returned to the UK?) but nevertheless, it is so. I always travel with a letter of consent from DH but have only ever had to present DS' birth certificate. I would take a copy of your DD's just to be on the absolute safe side.
