Swedish islands

Has anyone stayed in or been to the Gothenburg archipelago? I have a vague idea about going but don't know anything about what it's like, how easy it is to get around, which islands you can actually stay on, what the ferries and shops are like etc.

Oo sorry I can't help but I'm cheekily placemarking op as I'd like to know these things too 😬

Not been but live in Gothenburg so can tell you a little bit about transport. Getting around on the islands is all walking or you can rent bikes. Ferries from the city and between islands is all part of the cities public transport system so you can buy a day pass and do all the buses trams and island hopping you want. Sorry I can’t be of any help. Really should get my butt over there at some point

No, that's great to hear, Outfoxed –thanks! I don't drive so am not bothered about the no-cars thing (in fact it appeals!)

Sounds easy enough to get around.

I suppose my fear is staying on an island with no shops and realising that there are no more ferries for the day and I have no food or, (maybe more important), coffee!

In Sweden you will never be far away from coffee, trust me on that one.

Oh, I know that's true generally (been to Gothenburg, Stockholm and a small town before), but on an island with no shops...?
