Join its Orlando time on Facebook, great site.
For universal if you book one night in a universal hotel (hard rock) is one of them you get 2 days fast passes so from the morning of check in first day and for the next day even after checking out. Well worth doing as unlike Disney you do not have to pre-book your rides.
We went in August it was boiling hot, get a fan that sprays water you can get these in Walmart. Cold towels are also great.
Ride the train in Harry potter both ways, the story changes on the screen.
My children 13 & 9 preferred universal from Disney.
Are you going to Disney too? You will have a fantastic time.

Try the DIBB website for more Orlando information than you thought could exist!

Universal will be very hot, humid and busy in August. Are you staying in one of the Universal hotels with front of line passes? How many days do you have at Universal?

If you are off site and only have a couple of days, planning your visit carefully is essential to having a good time:

  • use the DIBB crowd calendar to work out which days are best to visit.
  • get to the parks well before published opening. It will take you at least half an hour from getting to the car park entrance to the park entrances, sometimes much longer if it’s busy at bag search. Bribe your teens to get up if necessary!!!
  • get your park tickets in advance. If you buy vouchers that have to be exchanged, allow extra time for this
  • get park to park tickets or you can’t use the HP train
  • get the ride wait times app for your smartphone so you get current information about the rides and can adjust your plan of action accordingly.
  • consider purchaing express passes to get front of line access if you only have a day in each park. It’s expensive but may be the only way of getting on the rides you want.

If you’re going to visit the Volcano Bay waterpark, make sure you are there for ropedrop as it gets very busy.
Find some sun beds and dump your bags down and head straight for the ‘Krakatau’ aqua coaster. It is seriously the best water ride ever!

Definitely join 'It's Orlando time' on Facebook.

Where are you staying? Consider a night at one of the high end universal hotels that include express passes as part of the night's stay - saves a fortune compared to buying the tickets on their own (which we have in the past because you get straight to the front of lines so it's been worth it in busy periods).

Haven't been to Clearwater yet but it's definitely on the list for another time.

We go in November this year but sticking to Disney & Universal we will have 4 month old DD with us, also staying on site at Disney so want to make the most of it.
