I'm taking 2 American girl fans to the store this summer. Does anyone have any advice on how to make the most of the experience for them?

I would go on their website and do some research on the things that interest them, write them down in the order that you want to see therm.

This should save you a lot of time when you get to the store which can be very crowded - remember this is summer in NY

We were lucky as it was dead quiet when we went. I looked online first and found out that the wellie wisher dolls are a bit smaller and a lot cheaper at $60. My daughter loved the shop and picked which one she wanted and bought it with her own Xmas money. I love how they have kids outfits to match the dolls too.

You are welcome

As DevilsDoorbell said start saving now, it's very expensive.

What I think you should do is plan to get there as soon as they open up, that way you will miss the crowds later in the day and have a more enjoyable time.
The girls will probably want to go back more than once.
And it does get crowed

Don't forget the sales tax on top of any advertised price!

We went last July expecting it to be horribly busy as it was mid-afternoon when we got there but it was fine. Lots of people there but never too crowded and queues to pay were never more than a couple of people deep.

I reckon you know already that it’s pretty expensive(!) so if you want to make it really special start on buy them dolls (and possibly outfits) and then take them up to the doll salon where they can get the doll’s hair done, nails painted and ears pierced. There’s a restaurant on the top floor (best to book in advance but we turned up on the day and got a reservation for 30 minutes later) You can have food or just drinks which aren’t anything special but the fun bit is that they have special seats for the dolls to sit on and their own mini cup and plates which you take away with you. If you want to go really crazy you can even buy matching outfits for the kids!

It’s totally nuts really but DD2 was 8 when we went and absolutely loved it!
