Indoors for 3 under 4's and 12 adults-Glasgow/Loch Lomond/Renfrewshire

Can anyone recommend somewhere in the glasgow/renfrewshire/loch lomond areas suitable for us to celebrate a birthday without being too expensive for this weekend?
We had hoped to have a bbq on the banks of loch lomond, the children can play and the adults can chat, but if it rains we're a bit stuck. We don't stay in this area, will be visiting relatives so we don't know what else we could do if the weather is bad.

help!

Oh yes, we like the pottery in Drymen. Not sure how long you could hang out there once you've eaten, though.

Second the Science place.

thanks muminfife.

we actually visited the science centre last summer and it is fantastic, but not sure its the right place for us with the children and grand parents and aunts/uncles in tow, as there will prob be at least 12 adults.

kelvin park and museum if weather is awful, plus theres the transport museum over the road if the kids would prefer. kelvin park has a nice clean under fives play area if it brightens up.

that sounds good, persephonesnape thanks for that. is there a decent amount of parking at kelvin park?

yes, you can park outside the museum complexey bit for free, its a very short walk to the museum. There's a coffee shop in the museum, but if you go out on top the main road and turn right, there's a beanscene (beanscene is very welcoming for under fives.) there's also a lovely new italian (?) restaurant at the bottom of byres road ( ten minutes walk or so from the museum) if you wanted a more substantial lunch. Hope this helps.

As well as the coffee shop in kelvingrove, there's a lovely restaurant in the basement. It serves great food, but it's usually busy and I don't know if you can book in advance. If you go at 12, you should get a table OK.

I would also recommend The Transport museum (use links near top in red for more info) and the Kelvingrove .

The Transport museum is ideal for younger kids. If you head up to the cafe early there too you should get a seat no bother.

For parking go early too, the parking near the Museum fills up quicly Sat/Sun, you can park further away round about the Kelvingrove.

If it is a nice day the Kelvingrove park is ideal for a picnic and a runaround (swingpark too). This PDF map might help if you don't know the area.
