Hello
Does anyone recommend a city break in Europe with a 1 year old in JULY?

Looking for 3/4 days away, somewhere sunny and chilled with nice food where we can explore and relax.

We have a stroller - DD isn't walking yet but is nearly there

Just want somewhere nice with as little stress as possible!

thanks

Valencia? Palma de Mallorca?

Florence is lovely

In July I would stay away from southern Europe. I hate sight seeing at 25+ degrees.

Copenhagen, Stockholm (can be hot as well though), Iceland, Prague, Vienna, lots of German cities, Budapest

Copenhagen would be a good option. When we went in August it was T shirt weather but not boiling. There is plenty to see and do with baby changing and feeding facilities at many of the attractions, cafes and larger shops. Public transport is clean, easy to use and would be fine for using with buggy. The city itself is easy to navigate and never felt busy.

Wonderful time of year to visit Amsterdam. Very accessible with a stroller and lots to occupy toddlers.

I'm an Amsterdam blogger. Heaps of inspiration here:

Switzerland maybe? I went to Lucerne when my DC’s were about 3 and 5. Very good facilities for toddlers there. Also Finland is the same.

Lots of play areas, high chairs, nappy changing places. I found Souther lin Europe not so good, but this information is 10 years old.

Porto is amazing. Cheap, great food and the Portuguese love babies!

Bruges

Lisbon. A big aquarium, castle and lots of modes of transport. My DC loved hopping from tram to bus to cable car and the taxis are so cheap we didn't bother with the buggy much. The area near the aquarium is great for a stroll. There are some lovely parks with cafes and outdoor seating and lots of museums too. I hope you find somewhere nice to go!

You would enjoy the Spanish Basque country. Fly to Bilbao or Biarritz. If you fly to Bilbao you can get a very simple and cheap regular bus from the small airport straight to the city centre in about 20 minutes.

The city is lovely for sightseeing; you can walk along the river bank, around the old town, and there are loads of great and inexpensive places to eat, at all times of day. Basque pintxos are exquisite, there's great fish and dairy produce, and the local Txakoli wine and northern Spanish ciders are all well worth a taste. Spanish people love children and will make your baby very welcome; it's normal to come out for dinner or drinks or a walk, ice-cream etc. with the baby sleep in the buggy.

Culture wise you have the Guggenheim gallery, the Bellas Artes, a recently converted small arts' centre called La Alhóndiga, the Basque history museum, and the universities (with parts open to the public).

You can also go to various beaches on the metro (Getxo, Plentzia, Santurtxi) which is quick and cheap. The beach towns are also pleasant.

If you hire a car, you can come from Biarritz airport instead, and also visit a wide range of nearby towns and beaches including beautiful San Sebastián, Lekeitio, Zarautz, and Getaria, and go into the beautiful countryside (including the historic town of Guernika).

Tldr: inexpensive, sunny but not boiling hot (weather is similar to good summer weather on the south coast of U.K.), nice food, nice people, things to look at and mooch around, but no big crowds or hassle.
