Finally our holiday is arriving!!!

We (me, DH, 2yo DD, my mum & dad, my brother and my sister) are off to Florida this Thursday. We are staying pretty close to Disney in a big pool villa at Windsor Palms Resort. We have two cars booked. We have loads of pre-booked tickets (lots as each time we ordered some they gcve us free days!):

  • 10 days of Disney (unlimited entrance into parks on those days)
  • 14 days of Universal
  • 1 day Sea World
  • 1 day Space Kennedy
  • 1 character breakfast at Disney (alreay booked)

DH would also like to get a round of golf in, but will have to hire clubs as we are not taking any with us. No one else but DH plays.

We know it is rainy season and are expecting hot, humid weather with storms each afternoon.

DD is now 90cm so just big enough for the first stage roller coasters, etc. Which she loves!!!

So, has anyone been? Can you give me all your hints, tips and advice? With regards to the flight and the holiday itself?

TIA!

hi havent got time to read all this thread so apologise if im repeating anything anyone else has said!!

We went last August and yes really really make use of the Fast Pass and Baby Swap, the firework displays at night at epcot was awesome but quite loud so be prepared.

Most of all start early, we got rained/thunder and lightning off most days at about 3ish we were drenched through, keep a change of clothing and dry towels in the car cos its a bit embarrassing driving back to base in Bra and Knickers

Everything but everything got really wet!

Have a fantastic time !!!!

Cheers sleeplessmum. We will get some ponchos ready, and try and time DD's naps or snack times round the rain. They are supposed to be quite easy to determine timings apparantly??? If anything like when we were in Kenya - you could see the rain clouds coming a few minutes beforehand at least.

Oh yeah, you can definitely see the skies start to darken.

Mind you, since we have been home we haven't seen much of the sun at all and I have to say we have had rain at all times of the day. Yesterday I took my kids to the beach, which they closed an hour after we got there because of lightening. This was at about noon. (Just grateful that we had some time there and it wasn't 5 minutes after we arrived.)

I hope for you that it's cloudy (not quite so hot), but doesn't rain except when it's supposed to (i.e. 4pm).

By the way, weather-wise, if any of you have a choice as to when you can visit Florida, I have to say that April has been my favourite month in the year I've lived here. Perfect outdoor weather. Also late October/ early November was good too.

Must take advantage of the baby swap. Will avoid hour long queues. We loved going to springs at Rock springs and blue springs. floating down a beautiful hot river on inner tubes very safe and child friendly a great break from all the bustle. We saw lots of alligators and my kids have never forgotten it.

Cheers all Got lots of packing done today; last washing loads are currently hung drying on airer. Dh will finish that ironing tomorrow to go straight in case. Just realised that my vanity case is broken so have to go and buy something tomorrow to replace it. Also meeting a friend and her DS at soft play for lunch to get me and DD out, and then into town for some last minute bits.

My dad picks me and DD up at lunch time on Wednesday to go to airport hotel, and DH will follow us after he finishes work. Hopefully he will remember everything!!!

I promise to report back afterwards and post lots of piccies on my photobucket albums!
