Mexico 2019

I'm just starting to research next years summer holiday,we are thinking about Mexico but the choice is overwhelming.

For context we have two 10 year olds who love water slides.
It's important to us that the food is good and we would prefer somewhere not to big, but looking at Mexico most hotels seem to be quite big so it's not a deal breaker.
Any recommendations for me to look up would be great

What about renting a condo and staying near a beach.lot cheaper and food ext is cheaper you could also do a day trip to one of the water park

We went to Cancun in 2007 for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time at our complex but there is a serious security risk in the area at the moment so always check with HO etc in event of issues etc.

That being said there are some fantastic waterparks in Mexico and just depends where you want to go etc.
Two weeks all inclusive was just shy 3000 for us two adults.

Beautiful country, beautiful people, amazing country- just some stupid Americans not having a clue - be aware they are allowed to carry firearms.

Water slides usually are in the bigger hotels. I stayed at the moon palace, which had water slides, however the hotel is so massive that it ruined the holiday for us. I also stayed at Dreams riviera, which had great food, and was perfect for families, although there isn’t any water slides.

We have booked Dreams Playa Mujeres for April next year. It took a couple of months of research before making a hotel decisions because yes, theres so much choice!

Just be aware some resorts are the equivalent of an American ayia nappa (?) especially at spring break.

Currently on our last day in Mexico at Xcaret Occidental hotel. Its basically in a rainforest and it’s been amazing- every day has brought a new wildlife experience- monkeys, capybara, coati (so cute), iguanas, peccaries, and that’s just in hotel grounds. It’s the rainy season, but has been 30+ every day with a couple of short lived showers, spectacular dry thunderstorms and frankly being a bit overcast has been a welcome relief! There’s a small inlet with a beach which is like being in the coolest wave machine ever with tropical fish swimming around you, and views out to Cozumel. It’s much quieter than Cancun but within easy reach of anything you want to do or see. We opted for the Xcaret Park included option- it’s a rainforest park with lots of wildlife attractions, and we were able to go in and out as we pleased and it’s easy walking distance from hotel. If you want to you can swim with dolphins, scuba dive, walk with stingrays, swim with sharks and loads more. We’ve loved it, such an experience and the staff couldn’t have been better. Ask me anything you want to know more about- sad to leave, but ready for home now

@zacsmum25

Do you know if myself or husband could hold our 1 year old around underground river?

Zacsmum25 · 22/07/2018 14:02

I don’t see why not- they give you life jackets for everyone including babies so it should be fine. I wasn’t tall enough for my feet to touch the ground all the way around so if that would be an issue I would avoid. I’m only 5ft 3 though- you might be an Amazon goddess lol

givemecakee · 22/07/2018 14:08

Haha! I'm 5ft 8 and my husband is 6ft. He can do the carrying.
