We are desperate to get away for a few days to Spain.

It’s our first child and we’re used to going abroad and would like to try going away for 3 nights to Spain this May. (2.5 hour flight).

Can anyone recommend a good travel buggy for newborns? How would we go about feeding the wee man? How do you deal with the heat for a baby?

Doubt is stopping us for booking, we would appreciate some advice for anyone who has travllled before.

If you don't mind being surrounded by families, I'd recommend TUI Family Life hotels. They are several to chose from in Spain.
The air-conditioned baby lounge is open all day, every day and provides a peaceful area to sit, relax and meet other parents. It comes with facilities like microwaves, changing tables and bottle warmers, which means there’s no need to traipse back to the room for feeds or nappy changes.
The crèche is open six days a week for up to three two-hour sessions a day, as well as some evenings. Fully trained staff are on hand to look after 0 to 3-year-olds.
You can hire everything you need before you go and it’ll be ready and waiting for you when you arrive. All the equipment you can think of can be booked, from cots and strollers, to sterilisers and bottle warmers and it’s all from leading companies.

Transit bag from Amazon for your travel system wheels and carrycot. Car seat goes in a laundry bag to protect it from condensation. That's your two pieces of free checked in baby luggage. Baby now has wheels and can sleep in the carrycot for a week at that age no problem. Pack beach towels around the pram in the transit bag.

Boots do sun shade nets for the carrycot and car seat. Keeps the sun and the wind off and sand and insects out.

Milton sterilise anything in your room. You can cut the top off a five litre water bottle, take a collapsible bowl or bucket or get steriliser bags. If your hotel doesn't give you a kettle, take a travel one with you. Two metal 0.5 litre flasks. Fill one at night with boiling water so it's cooled for out and about next day and one for boiling water in the morning. Pack formula powder in hold luggage. You can take made up formula through security (No problem last year at Prestwick anyway) and a carton for the flight.

DD had bottle for takeoff and slept all the way to Lanzarote. Bottle on way back down. Was absolutely fine! Wouldn't contemplate it now at 16 months but we had a good holiday.

I've travelled quite a bit with DD who is 5 months (the last one being almost 24 hours door to door by myself)
The babyzen Yoyo is fab. Use it around the airport and can be taken onto the plane, but usually I leave it outside the plane. It's also tiny to put in a boot! Wear the baby in a sling. Feed on take off and landing. Buy a snoozeshade for naps. Buy cotton clothing. We're currently in 30 degree heat and it took a couple of days to adjust but she's done fine!
Feeding I can't share experiences as DD is EBF (and actually one of the reasons why I persevered was for travelling even though I hate it really)
Go. Have fun. She'll enhance your experience!

We took DS on a 5 hour flight when he was 8 months old.

Best advice I can give is to take a sling/carrier of some type.

I used ours in the airport; really useful being hands free when trying to deal with bags/passports/general airport chaos.

And then it was invaluable on the flight. DS was incredibly wiggly on my lap, and would have screamed the whole way if I’d had to try and contain him by holding him.
As soon as the seatbelt signs were off, I stood in the aisle and put him in the sling, where he was so much more content. After a while he then dropped off so I was able to sit down, but I spent a lot of the flight standing in the aisle tbh. I couldn’t have just held him for that long so I was so happy I had the sling!
Book yourself an aisle seat if you can so you can get up and down as much as you need.

If you don’t already have a sling/wrap/carrier that you know and like, get in touch with your local sling library. They will give you advice and let you test a few out, and you can borrow one for the holiday if you don’t want to buy your own.

And something else I’ve just thought of, that I didn’t do but wish I had...

A few reusable swim nappies will take up lots and lots less space than the disposable swim nappies you can buy in the supermarket (which are also really expensive to buy on holiday if you don’t pack enough!)

We didn’t cloth, but I believe it’s ‘Real Nappy Week’ this week, so lots of websites that sell cloth nappies are doing promotions. It might be worth checking out reusable swim nappies on the website Babi Pur as they could be discounted this week Smile have a look at the ‘Close’ and ‘tots bots’ swim nappies.
