Do you really need 2 days at Warwick Castle?

Seen a few hotel deals offering a hotel stay plus 2 days entrance to Warwick Castle. Is there enough to do and see to warrant 2 days or would a second day be better spent going somewhere else in the area, such as Stratford Upon Avon? Kids are teens.

Warwick Castle is great, but I don't think I could have filled two days there. It might be worth it if there are special events on when you go, but otherwise I'd look for other places to visit in the area.

I liked Warwick castle but no, you don't need two days.

We live five minutes walk away so have annual pass. We like the bird show and they will soon have the live jousting on too. If you have fairly young kids then there is a princess mystery event (say 15 minutes but book ahead). Maze is about 30 minutes and playground is good. A day would be enough. Dough and Brew cafe v nearby is good (wireless headphones so kids can watch films whilst shovelling pizza and adults drink). Book ahead
If you have national trust or English heritage membership then there are good local options (Charlecote, Packwood, Baddesley Clinton/ Kenilworth Castle)

A day at best for the castle. Stratford Upon Avon is about half a day.

Definitely no more than a day.

We got very frustrated visiting Warwick Castle. It was expensive to get in, even with BOGOFF vouchers, then we had to pay for car parking and walk 10-15 minutes to the gate. Once we had entered the castle gardens there were lots of activities aimed at the children, but all wanted yet more money to take part in. If you wanted to go into the Castle it was more money. The falconry show, Knights training show and Trebuchet demo were all very good, but very crowded and our youngest struggled to see. The saving grace for us was that Horrible Histories had lots of free to access stands with activities.

i'm sure there was some part of the Keep you had to pay to enter. We went a few years a go, it just seemed to be a money pit, everywhere we turned it felt like they wanted more money from us and i wouldn't recommend it.

We hated it too, for the same reasons. The fabric of the castle itself, which is fantastic, is lost beneath expensive gimmicks and unnecessary extras. If it were stripped of all the rubbish and people could just wander around again, it would be so much nicer but sadly I doubt Merlin will ever entertain that idea.
