Ryanair cabin case

So, Ryanair say carry on luggage needs to be
55cmx40x20

The case id like to use is

57x37x22

What are the chances of getting it on??

Seriously considering driving it to an airport to try it out in the cage thing ahead of my trip!!!!

Do you know you now have to pay for hand luggage if you want to take it into the cabin? If you don't want to pay, they put it in the hold 'for free' and take it off you as you board.

I just flew with Ryanair and they didn't seem to measure or weigh anyone's cases, so if yours looks around the correct size, I reckon you'll be fine.

I took great pains to make sure my bag was the correct weight and size according to their new rules, taking out an outfit or two....they didn't check size or weight of anyone's bags - I'm still bitter

It will probably fit in the cage as the cage is bigger than the max dimensions.

However, Ryanair know this and in the past have tried to catch people out by putting a cardboard box over any luggage they suspect is too big and charging the owners.

But this was ages ago and before their big 'we will try to be a bit less shit to our customers' drive a couple of years ago, so you may or may not get away with that, will depend entirely on the mood of the staff on the day, how full the flight is and whether it will squash down a bit.

I would probably risk it and let them put it in the hold at the gate if they ask. Take a separate small bag to take on the flight with any valuables or delicate items.

Or you could take a smaller case or bag if you have one,

Depends if it's a hard or soft case - if the latter then you can probably squeeze it in to the cage or use the compression straps. Mine is soft but technically 3cm too deep (Farpoint 40 Dimensions (cm): 54 (l) x 35 (w) x 23 (d)) but I don't pay for priority boarding so it goes in the hold now anyway, but never been questioned as to size.

I have seen people asked (before the new policy) to put bags in the sizer or simply told you cannot take that as hand luggage but this was people with bags that were very obviously oversized.

I traveled Ryanair the other day - if you had a carry on case they would tag it and take it off you at the gate. That was all, no measuring or weighting. Same for the small bag you are allowed to take with you on the plane

Thanks all. Going by your responses, I'll risk it. Don't mind it being taken off me at gate but don't want to be charged for it...

They didn't check ours recently and we went to great lengths to get the right sizes.
