Family annual travel insurance question

If I buy an annual family travel insurance policy does it only cover us if we travel as a family? We are holidaying as a family in the summer but myself and DP want to have a city break in October without DS.
Thanks for any advice.

I’m pretty sure it covers you separately but I’ll just check the T&C on ours (which is couple, not family)

I just found this in the definitions section. We’re each named, with birthdate, on the certificate.

I’ll keep looking though

That's really helpful thank you! Which company is that through? I'm looking on the money supermarket comparison website and going crossed eyed with all the extras!

Oh I know, it’s really hard to compare like with like! One thing I always get, although it’s a bit extra, is the excess waiver - having had a child experience theft of passport & a lot of cash it’s well worth it!

Ours is covered2go Gold - we’re both over 65 now & they’re one of the ones recommended by Which for oldies Grin

I’ll have a look at their family recommendations for you.

Most will cover adults travelling independently but the children have to travel as part of the group.

I have found a couple of insurance sites which say the adults & any children 16+ are covered separately (children on eg school trips, not solo)

On our family policy (2 adults and 2 DC) we are all covered together, and the DC if they are over 15 can travel alone .
They were really helpful when i had questions about the DC travelling alone, and sometimes for longer length out of the country. So we have extended our policy to cover a trip up to 60 days instead of the standard 30 days per trip.

This is from Sept 17 - they won’t do it again until May

Oh, the middle column is maximum age for that premium cost - 35 seems a bit young for a family policy Confused
