Has anyone been to Porto? Can I have your tips please?

My husband and I are off to Porto soon.

I’ve done some research online but the same old recommendations are being thrown up and I fear that we will race through the sights very quickly (husband isn’t one to stand around admiring a church)

Has anyone got any top tips/hidden treasures? We will consider anything really!

Thank you!

DH and I went years ago, in the days of 10p Ryan Air flights and we loved it. Definitely enough to see and do - we mainly ate and drank lots of lovely things! I remember one evening loads and loads of drummers processing through the town. No idea why but it was wonderful! And DH broke hos glasses but that's not Porto's fault. Ah, it was lovely, have a great time.

Oh I love Porto but it's years since I've been.
The beach at Matosinhos (sp) is lovely but pack sun cream as the the wind can disguise how much you're burning.
The port houses. I liked Ramos pinto the best.
Climb the tower.
Boat trip down the Douro
I'd you have a reason to go, casa da música is lovely.
If you're driving, head out to geres or Vianna do Costello both are lovely.
The nightlife is great too lots of lovely bars down by the river. I found the nightclubs quite hard to find but worth it when we did - this was years ago now. Things might have changed.
Again this was years ago, but the highlight of my trip was an all you can eat and drink for €30 restaurant by the bridge.
The football stadium
It's such a fab city, you can have any sort of holiday you want - beach/drinking/sightseeing etc. Enjoy!

We went a couple of years ago. Not for us. We found it scruffy, dirty and pretty expensive. We did stay in a fab airbnb though in the heart of the city which I can highly recommend.
