Cost of Easter Barbados flights

I'm thinking about Barbados for a two week holiday next Easter - departing 6 April. I want to book an apartment or a villa rather than a package holiday so have been looking at Owners Direct to look at costs.

Flights are not released yet so I wondered if anyone has been during the Easter school holidays and can tell me what the prices of flights were so that I can roughly estimate the cost of the holiday.

Are there any particular airlines I should look at? Do you fly direct or do a stop over?

Any other good tips for a relaxing holiday in Barbados?

It will be me and DH plus DS who will be 13 and DD10

Thanks Smile

The west coast has the major tourist resorts and all the best beaches. The east coast is wilder and not good for swimming. The plantation houses are mostly east though.

I cannot advise on airline costs as we haven’t been for a while. However, Easter used to be shoulder season but as it’s school holidays, flights are sought after and prices are not bargain basement. I would start checking prices 11 months before you go. I am not sure if the non scheduled airlines have a timetable for April, but if they do, they are probably cheaper.

Barbados isn’t cheap in the good resort towns. I think an apartment is worthwhile to keep costs down.

Everyone relaxes in Barbados! Just find a pool and a beach!

Thanks so much for the info.

I've priced up a Tui flight but it was £5200 for four of us!

I'll start looking again in a month when the flights are released.

That sounds high from Tui.

Maybe look at Virgin Atlantic....they fly to Barbados

I'm sorry to say, that price sounds about right for economy for Easter.

I am a regular visitor to the Caribbean (not Barbados though) & I find Easter to be the most expensive time (higher than Xmas). IME, the flights are approximately double or more what you would pay at any other time.

Usually Easter flights are around 2.2k for us (2 adults,1child)

We used Airbnb to book an apartment worked really well and cheap. On the edge of holetown some great beaches.

Can’t comment of the flight prices as we went in January. With Thomas cook.

But if you’re flying 6th April next year it’s nearly a month before Easter weekend

Both Virgin and BA fly direct to Barbados. Virgin fly from either Manchester or Gatwick but tend to get better prices from Gatwick as the flights are more frequent (got back last weekend). Prices can vary so if you can be slightly flexible over which day you travel it may help.

Would recommend staying on the West Coast - we stay just south of Holetown when we go. We tend to book a car for a few days so can explore a bit and the rest of the time use the buses which travel up and down Highway 1 (cost is minimal).

Doing a catamaran trip is quite a nice way to see the coast and get to swim of the boat for snorkelling - most offer a pick up/drop off service to get to the marina as tend to go out from Bridgetown.

Thanks so much for responding.

Yes I hadn't though about when the actual Easter weekend was as was just going by the school holiday dates - so we will probably be flying home on Easter Saturday or Sunday so hopefully that will make things cheaper.

I'm going to keep checking with BA and Virgin to see when flights are released.

Once I've booked the flights I can look at accommodation based on the tips you've given me.

Definitely go with Virgin - cheaper and better (service/entertainment/food) than BA.

We loved Payne’s Bay beach. We also hired a car loved exploring the island. Found plenty of good cheap eats and used the supermarket in holetown quite a bit

Kidd enjoyed boat trip and stand up paddle boarding. Oh the Concorde experience at the airport. Plenty to do.
