Travelling with a 3 month old

Hi,

I will soon be travelling with my 3 month old baby... does anyone know if hotels provide accurate beds for babies (Moses basket/travel cot)?

Also what are the essentials I'll need? Don't want to miss anything!

Thanks in advance :)

I've never come across any that don't but it will specify on holiday agent websites when booking. Most airlines will let you take a travel cot or car seat in addition to a pram if necessary. When we went on holiday with a 4 month old last year, we took the carrycot part of our pram and had baby sleep in there overnight anyway. That was more convenient as it meant we didn't have to stay in the hotel room in the evening if we didn't want to, we could sit in the quiet bar or restaurants a bit later.

Things we took that were useful but not essential: a travel bouncy chair for sitting in by the pool, UV pram shade, toys, full length UV sun suits, a nursing cover-not for covering up but so I could keep baby in the shade while nursing. XL muslins as lightweight blankets, neoprene wrap baby sunglasses, washable swim nappies to save space on disposable nappies, and a solar weave connecta (baby carrier) that can be used in water, but any baby carrier is handy for the airport.

Fab thank you. Did you take your big pram (the one the carry cot connects to?) or a buggy? I don't want my big pram to be chucked about and broken etc. X

Where are you going?
Airlines allow 2 pieces of baby equipment, so buggy/travel cot/car seat/baby carrier.
We used the Little Life tent bed.
A sling is handy, especially for juggling things at security and walking around the plane.
I would say buggy if you can. The pram was a faf the one time we took it.
Legionnaires style sun hats.
We had a ray shade to go over the buggy.

At that age I just took all my own stuff 'just in case'

Went to Ireland when dd was same age. Took pop up travelcot even steam steam steriliser Grin

I look back and chuckle as it was a luxuary trip and the cot and all extras they supplied were perfect.

We looked like we were arriving for a month

Also Email and ask them to be specific about what they supply etc.

Maybe pop in a travel mattress

@Minniemountain we are going to Benidorm for a week, my older daughter is obsessed with the place although we have never been so decided to treat her. We are staying in what looks to be a great and luxury hotel as it's huge, has a water park and animal park in the grounds and we get our own lodge. I'll send them an email to find out what they provide as I don't really want to take too much that we struggle to carry it all. But I do want to make sure we're not without the essentials.

Yes we took the big pram, Phil and teds with the carrycot on top and the double seat on the bottom. Both of which have to be taken off to collapse and I was worried it would be a faffor they wouldn't accept it at the gate but were absolutely fine with it and we only had to do it for the plane. For the coach transfer and also day trips out the coach driver just put it under the coach without collapsing it. We were really glad we decided to take it and not a stroller because baby slept so well in it. We even took it on a couple of boat trips with no issue whatsoever.

Email hotel to check re cot or you may wish to consider a travel cot. Think about milk and sterilising if necessary. Calpol at 3 months may be useful for ears on plane but hopefully too young to notice. Think about keeping baby comfy whilst out and about and cool in the shade. Enjoy!

Ps I have never taken big pram as didn't want to risk it look for a from birth stroller can get a cheap one in argos but may wish to test it first!
