Where to fly cheaply long haul

We want to take the kids outside Europe this summer. Which destinations are relatively cheap to fly to? There’s 6 of us so flight costs add up. We don’t want Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey or Morocco. Any idea where might be affordable?

You can book flights a year in advance, the earlier you book, the cheaper ! Look Skyscanner. Went to Philippines £350 return flights, food and accommodation is very reasonable price. Compare your own deal to the package deals.Thailand, Borneo good too if you like island hopping

Difficult in the school summer holidays to get cheap long haul flights. We are flying to Singapore in July/August for about £500 each. Or you could fly to KL. Then cheap hops to rest of Malaysia/Borneo via Air Asia. Singapore is expensive, but everywhere else is pretty cheap once you get there. I considered other places that I thought would be affordable, but there are actually very few long haul destinations you can get to for £500 when you are constrained to school holidays. South Africa flights are expensive and I don't think it is as cheap as Malaysia/Borneo once you are there either. The other options I looked at were Costa Rica and Namibia, but both were looking more expensive. In two years my children will be doing GCSE/A-level so we will do a June/July holiday which will hopefully take the edge of the prices.

A couple of years ago we went to East Canada. Flights with Iceland Air are excellent value. It worked out well for us as we both attended an academic conference and got some costs paid, but I think it would probably have been more expensive than Borneo otherwise.
