Virgin upper class with kids

Hi Everyone,

We are flying to Florida next year and my partner has booked us upper class flights with virgin, we have previously flown business class with BA and he wanted to try virgin.

We have an 11,4 and what will be a 13months old, has anyone flown virgin upper class with there kids ? Have you had bad reactions from other passengers ? Our kids are generally well behaved and we’ve had no problem before on flights...however as we know with kids they can all have there day.

Any feedback will be great.

J

I honestly don't mind children being children on a flight but you always get the tutting/looks from the grumpy passengers. I have no children.

fuzzyduck1 · 01/04/2018 15:56

I wouldn’t even contemplate flying with virgin.

Wouldn’t give Branson a penny with the way he makes out how high and mighty he is and thinks he can tell the British people what to do when he doesn’t live here and does his best not to pay tax here

We have, although ours have always been quiet on flights (miraculously) so no reason to piss off other passengers.

I love Virgin and always fly with them if possible. Their UC service is fantastic.

Flown premier economy with dcs with Virgin Atlantic to Antigua , Cuba and business class with Emirates to Thailand ...absolutely no problems...( although dcs were 12,14 and 17) dcs got extra ice cream which was best bit of all as far as Ds concerned!...no problems with other passengers
Benefit of getting on/ off plane first, so you get through passport control/ customs ahead of everyone else and use of the lounges for chilling before hand which makes holidays start in a relaxing way

Completely fine, first class doesn't mean child free.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 01/04/2018 16:07

Upper Class is Business class by another name - it's better than BA's business class - more space and a bar but no one should expect a child free experience in any class. Just keep your DC occupied as you would normally and I'm sure it will be ok. I've just seen you are flying to Florida - definitely reasonable to expect children in Upper Class on those flights - it's a family holiday destination.

Is it an overnight flight? I flew virgin upper with my two in December but they are 13 and 11 so weren't any bother. There were a couple of young kids on the overnight flight home and they kept crying. It did piss me off to be honest as we paid a lot to be able to lie down and sleep! Would the 4 year old be ok on take off and landing as the herringbone seating with partition means it feels a bit like you are on your own.

Titsywoo · 01/04/2018 16:14

Oh and the lounge at Heathrow is fab! Dh has virgin gold membership so can always use it.

BIWI · 01/04/2018 16:15

Yes, the herringbone formation on the planes does mean that you are all split up/feel like you're sitting separately.

I love flying UC and would always choose it if I could! No objection to children flying that way as long as they're not noisy/behave.

Titsywoo · 01/04/2018 16:16

Although on a flight to Florida I'm guessing there will be lots of kids in upper?

Plumsofwrath · 01/04/2018 16:24

I’ve flown UC without my own children but when other passengers had theirs. Two flights were memorable: parents sat at the bar and let their kids run riot, not caring about the impact on other people including airline staff doing their jobs. Every other flight parents at least made and effort, which was good enough.

TheOnlyAletheia · 01/04/2018 16:36

We have and ours loved it - they were really well behaved though, so the other passengers were happy to have them there.

Chrisinthemorning · 01/04/2018 16:40

We flew back from Orlando in UC with DS who was nearly 4. One man was very grumpy about him being there - until DS are his tea, had his seat made into a bed and slept the rest of the flight.
The man was nice when we disembarked. Grin
FWIW I wouldn’t fly back UC again- 7 hours wasn’t worth the difference to us and you only get 3 hours sleep. We are going again in May and going PE both ways.

ate

Madbengalmum · 01/04/2018 16:48

Virgin upper class isn't even really a good business class to be fair. Business class in Emirates/Etihad/Singapore is a proper bc, virgin upper gives a flat bed seat, but not really anything else good. As long as kids are well behaved it would not bother me, when they disturb or run amok business or economy its not acceptable.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 01/04/2018 16:51

On that route they won’t be the only kids in upper.

MeltSnow · 01/04/2018 17:14

I used to fly with my DC to LA on virgin upper class regularly. It’s not unusual for there to be kids. I’ve never had a bad reaction from another passenger.
I do ‘quiet’ parenting and my kids were generally quiet and well behaved.

One of their air stewards once mistook me for the Nanny when I was younger but I took that as a compliment 😂

Thank you everyone for your comments...made me feel a lot more comfortable

Does the 13 month old share a seat? I think most people are ok with families on this route but would expect them not to disturb other passengers.

Jconn · 02/04/2018 11:51

The 13 month old will be sharing a seat with me...
