DLP advice on accomodation

Im taking two of the dc (11 and 12 both boys) in the Autumn.

I've booked NPB and am after some advice.

One of the dc will, according to the travel agent, qualify for a disability pass so we get given a time to return to ride rather than queuing.

I am overwhelmed having looked at the pages for people on Facebook.

  1. Is it worth upgrading to compass club? As far as I can tell we would get snacks at 4pm a slightly nicer room and one fast pass each a day.
  1. Is it worth swapping to the main hotel? Only benefit would be the 'wow' factor? No fast passes or extras. Plus the decor looks a bit more adult friendly? And its closer - I think you are allowed inside to watch the fireworks?

We've booked the buffalo bill late show for our last night as the dc doesn't sleep so I thought that would be ok.

Im staying in dlh when i go and im entitled to a green pass which is for permanant disabilities, the orange pass is for temporary illnesses. The dlh is ideal for me as its right at the park as i struggle with walking long distances
NPBCC sounds really good and it gives you private check in and unlimited soft drinks that you can take away from the lounge

SouthWestmom · 31/03/2018 12:16

Thank you - it's a green pass they've said as I asked originally about fast passes and tickets and mentioned his issues so they told me about it.

Is the main hotel super amazing? Or would the extra bit of club be worth it? Or is the hotel irrelevant?

He has hypermobility (not his main issue) but can walk for most journeys without issues.

Only been to the DLH for drinks but totally over hyped IMO. We can go and stay at Santa Fe or Davy Crockett for longer/several times over for what DLH costs!

kimlo · 31/03/2018 12:23

you wont need the fast passes if he can get a green pass. You need to take a doctors letter or a blue badge to city hall when you get there.

You can watch the fireworks from the castle club lounge, but you need to be staying in castle club.

Is it worth it? Depends on the price diffrence. Unless you get free half board, if you stay in the dlh it would be premium which is worth it.

SouthWestmom · 31/03/2018 12:25

Ok thank you. Maybe we should stick with what we have. We get a free quick breakfast in the park - this seems to be a nightmare according to the FB pages with huge queues. And hb plus for the evening.

I was going to do cafe Mickey and Plaza Gardens the other two nights.

If you do compass club you get breakfast included or you can pay a few € extra each day for a hotel buffet breakfast

kimlo · 31/03/2018 12:28

the free half board in the dlh is in the hotel rather than in the parks.

kimlo · 31/03/2018 12:28

for breakfast sorry.

SouthWestmom · 31/03/2018 12:44

Ok thank you.

Our free HB plus is vouchers so I can top up or exchange. Kids aren't big eaters so may just take a packet of pain au chocolate and some hot chocolate sachets.

Feel a bit calmer now.

OP posts:
kimlo · 31/03/2018 12:48

you could take sone stuff for breakfast, then pick up your free breakfast later on in the morning when it's calmer and use them for lunch.

SouthWestmom · 31/03/2018 13:22

Oh is that possible? Great idea.

OP posts:
kimlo · 31/03/2018 13:40

the last time you can pick them up is 10.15, so if you got the cold option and took it away with you it is possible. The long ques seem to be earlier in the morning.

I8toys · 31/03/2018 15:03

We did compass club last year. You get to use the special compass club room at certain hours - free drink and food away from the masses. The other benefit is the breakfast again without the masses and need for queuing the morning. Would recommend it.

SouthWestmom · 31/03/2018 16:02

Oh thank you, im waiting for an upgrade price so will hopefully give able to do it.

Reading the Facebook pages the best value club room is the sequoia lodge golden forest room but it is a little further to walk than the other 2 hotels you have mentioned.

I8toys · 31/03/2018 16:52

NPB and Sequoia Lodge are around the lake and a short walk to Disney Village. Not that far to walk to Disney Village. You then have a walk to each park but its not onerous.

SouthWestmom · 31/03/2018 17:07

I did think about the SF lodge and the golden rooms but they said with a green pass it wouldn't be worth it, plus he does have some issues with tiredness and I couldn't face a massive walk before magic hours etc. Although with the green card maybe we can miss magic hours.

Op it's a shamrock you didn't know about this green pass before booking.
I would have gone for an annual pass and stayed off site.
You get all the so called perks within your pass.. So you don't need to spend extra money for them.
Easier to self cater a little and have extra ££ for other meals.. With ap you still get emt.. Special entrance.

From our off site hotel we walk a few steps from hotel to shuttle bus stop opp, then it drops us close to entrance. I'm sure Newport is behind us, behind the stop ie further away by a bit! Our hotel is lovely too, and has decent empty fridge so we can self cater with ease.
I also think with green pass.. Disability you would get one annual pass free... But need to double check that...
I read so many post about Disney hotels and they sound restrictive and ghastly!
Yes dlp is lovely.. Every day my dc love to sit in lobby for a bit on our way out..

EatenEasterChocsAlready · 01/04/2018 23:30

BTW... Getting away from masses is simply staying off site GrinGrin we don't face any masses as our hotel is much smaller Grin these Disney hotels are huge massive blocks they are vast.

Don't pay more... Just chuck snacks in a bag! Supermarkets next to us had fresh baguette, macaroons, beautiful butter we are all addicted too.. Everything. Dh spends 10 euro max a day topping us up after initial out lay for some delicious ham. Madeline cakes etc and plenty of places to picnic in park and get snacks.

SouthWestmom · 02/04/2018 09:38

Ah ok maybe that's a plan for the next time.
I don't mind staying on site as we can walk and won't get squished on buses. The annual pass is worth knowing about - I thought EMH were just for hotel guests. Sounds like they will be rammed then!

TittyGolightly · 02/04/2018 09:42

APs are far more expensive now. Unless you’re going more than once a year it doesn’t stack up.

EatenEasterChocsAlready · 02/04/2018 19:18

Ours was £192.

With free parking, free push chairs, a few euros off food etc.. Self catering.. Cheap off site hotel.. Been 8 nights so far, and due another five later in year. If we don't make it back I feel I've got my money worth.

The buses have been absolutely fine.

The only bus that's hideous is later on.. Around time illumination finish. And the one before. But unusual to watch illumination all time. I think hi Park or adagio are close as well. Remember some on site hotels as close or far as off site. All get free shuttle.

EatenEasterChocsAlready · 02/04/2018 19:21

It's not busy at emt nit Hotel guests have big que, plus abd infinity passes dobet

SouthWestmom · 02/04/2018 20:15

That's really good value . We just booked a package as it's just me and the boys so train, baggage, meal plan, hotel - it was easier this time esp as we now have a diagnosis and I wanted a safety net of it all being through one place.

Didn't understand the last bit! Are EMH busy?

OP posts:
Floralnomad · 02/04/2018 20:21

If you have an access pass you won’t need to worry about EMH , my dd has an access pass and we generally just go out a bit later , we normally stay at the Disneyland hotel now as it’s easier to pop in and out .
