Can you do Mexico for 7 days?

So we’ e seen a really good deal at a great hotel. We are a family of 3 with a 6 year old. Arrival is 2pm and journey back is 16.30, can we do this for 7 days or does it need to be longer when long haul?

You can but I don't think it's ideal tbh.
You will feel jet lagged for at least the first day or two.
I've been to Mexico 3 times and am planning to go again this year. It is beautiful there and you would have a lot of fun. For me, 2 weeks is ideal.
If you could push the 7 days to 10 I think that would be fine and a good compromise!

I have taken children that age those sorts of distances for four to six days. And with relatively complex self-organised arrangements. But we were all used to travel, and we had various well-practiced tricks. And we were going to places I knew from business trips. So we knew the jet lag score, we knew the hotels, we knew the cities. I reckon 7 days long haul as a first long haul trip to a place you haven’t been to before is a bit more ambitious.

The trick for short time longhaul holidays is to get into the local time use ASAP. I assume that you will be arriving there at night (which will be the early hours for you). Go to bed straight away and set the alarm to wake up everyone at 8.

Don’t go back to sleep after that, you will make it worse. Honest!

We went to Mexico over half term last October with a 6 and 8 year old. Day flights out and an overnighter back. Was absolutely fine, we stayed at Moon Palace, transfer was 20 mins. We had a great week - go for it!

Thank you, for 10 days it’s about £300 more. However I would need to take him out of the last week of school and i’ve never one thing at before so not sure how I feel about it. Will do some more research.

Flying west, the best trick is a flight which arrives early evening and staying awake on the plane. Then get to the hotel and go to bed. Get up in the morning, no jet lag. But it’s early the following morning by the clocks you got up on, and children find the staying awake hard, and the going straight to bed part hard too.
