Hello, DH and I are going to Dublin very soon for a few nights, the weather is set to be pretty bad by the looks of things. Neither of us will be drinking, we both like touristy/historical things like museums etc, and we are both vegetarian. Oh and I'm 28 weeks pregnant and doubt I could do something that involved tons and tons of stairs for example.

Any suggestions for things to see, places to eat etc? Smile

A bus tour of the city & surrounds is a great way to fit a lot in. You can get off in places that interest you along the way. I'd recommend a visit to Kilmainham Gaol and Collins Barracks and the interactive Viking museum Dublinia is quite fun to visit. Also the Guinness Storehouse - though you might not fancy the smell if you're pregnant!!

For food, I'd recommend The Rustic Stone, but have a look at this article for other suggestions of where to eat.

It's a fab city hope you enjoy the break Smile

Viking Splash Tours - tour of the city in an enclosed amphibious vehicle. These tours depart from Stephen's Green North before taking a 1hour 15 minute journey around Dublin. Along the way a ‘Viking’ guide will point out and explain the major city attractions.
Dublina - museum celebrating the history of Dublin’s Medieval period, through the telling of myths and stories. Housed at Christ Church, the Dublinia experience also offers a combined experience that includes crossing the neo-gothic archway into Christ Church Cathedral – the oldest medieval cathedral in Dublin – where you can visit the large crypt.
EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum - new visitor experience that shows the unique journey of the Irish nation in 20 remarkable themed galleries, using cutting-edge interactive technology. It's authentic, memorable, entertaining and engaging.
Butler's Chocolate Experience - a must for any chocoholic!
The Howth Express is a new tourist land train that runs on the harbour side of the Howth peninsula. The live commentary will entertain andinform you about of some of the local legends. The train stops at the National Transport Museum located in the castle grounds. Tours are just under half an hour long. Check their website for timetables.

You can take a cruise from Dublin city to Howth (Dublin bay cruises) Howth is a nice village with lots of great walks and good food. You can get the dart (light rail) back to the city.

www.cornucopia.ie

This is one of my favourite vegetarian restaurants in Dublin. More of a casual lunch spot, but the food is amazing

I agree with Macnab about a visit to Kilmainham Gaol and Collins Barracks and Dublinia.
Also Trinity College grounds and the Book of Kells, Christchurch Cathedral as well, the GPO.
You could get the Luas to Hueston and stroll over to the Phoenix Park if the weather doesn’t turn out so bad, and like others have said, get the dart to Howth, it’s really lovely out there.

Honeymood'd in Dublin, it was brilliant. Everywhere we went, seemed to have a notice board of other interesting events. We stayed a hotel off St. Stephen's Green. Afternoon tea in the hotel on the north side of the green, its famous.

Loved all the local names, floozie in the jacuzzi, dead zoo, enjoy.

There is a wonderful W B Yeats exhibition on in the National Library, (Kildare Street) really atmospheric and packed with original items from his family.

You can sit and listen to his poetry being read....
It's free, (and only down a short flight of stairs!) and in such a lovely building.

Next door to it is the wonderful National museum, not many places to sit down though, they like to keep you on the move!

Also recommend Cornecopia. Chester Beatty Museum and National Gallery excellent too.

Wanted to thank you all for your suggestions. We loved Cornucopia, we found it hard to find places to eat that were affordable and catered for vegetarians so we had dinner there two nights, it was great!! We also really loved Kilmainham Gaol and spent basically an entire afternoon there and learnt so much. We had a lovely time and learnt lots about Irish history and ate lots of cake!
