We have a bit randomly booked flights in and out of Buenos Aires for early next year.
Nothing else planned as yet. Do have some ideas we like food wine scenery.
Very open to any ideas for places to visit- we have two weeks and can get internal flights.
Especially interested for hotel recommendation in Buenos Aires
Hope some one is able to give us a steer we don’t know anyone who has been there

We haven’t been yet, but are just about to go!!

We are staying at the Nuss Hotel, Soho in BA. Hopefully it’s a good one! We are busy sightseeing for 3 days in BA and have a tango show booked.

We are also doing a self drive through the Lake District (Bariloche, San Martin de Los Andes, Neuquen) and then to El Calafate for the glaciers National Park. We are finishing off in Mendoza. Relaxing and a wine tour. We chose El Calafate over Salta. Not sure if that’s the right decision but in 2 weeks (we are 17 days in total and no choice due to Avios flights!) you cannot do everything!

I have found the Lonely Planet guide invaluable and booking.com to check out Hotel reviews. Our agent booked the hotels but I did quite a bit of research. Like everywhere, there are highly priced luxury hotels but we are doing smaller homely places!

The flights in Argentina have caused the agents the most problems. You need all your international flight details to book and there has been very late confirmation of flights. The schedule changes! Our agents have had to alter our itinerary due to this and they sell these holidays all the time so they knew what the flights should be. If you are booking yourself, be aware that internal flights were the biggest issue to be resolved.

Hope your research goes well.

How exciting!,,
Yes re the internal flights we have spoken to an agent who will book them.
I’m going to take a look at your itinerary
The whole thing is so overwhelming so many good things to see and do it’s hard to narrow it down.
Have a wonderful time and please do let me know how you get on .

I forgot to mention Iguazu Falls! We are not going on this trip because we have already been to both sides when we visited Brazil. It’s fantastic!

i’d definitely recommend El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park, The Perito Moreno glacier is stunning. The Northern section of Los Glaciares is fantastic for a day hike - el Chalten is the town where you base yourself, then you can do a short hike (longer ones are possible too, obviously) where you can view Cerro Torre / Fitz Roy peak.

I wasn’t keen on Bariloche, but I wasn’t well when I was there so that may have been part of the reason for my ambivalence towards it.

I thought the Talampaya and Ischigualasto parks were absolutely stunning. As far as I remember (it was a few years ago), we based ourselves in mendoza (but it may have been SAN Juan) to visit those parks. I really like Mendoza and we just picked up a flier for a trip to the parks - turned out that it was a 2 day trip and my friend and I were the only ones on the trip! The parks are UNESCO world heritage sites. Ischigualasto is known as Moon Valley because the landscape is quite eerie and weird. Talampaya has giant red sandstone cliffs - almost like a smaller, much less visited version of the Grand Canyon.

I really liked Salta - I felt the towns and cities further south felt very European but Salta felt much more Quechuan. From Salta you can visit the Quebrada de Humahuaca and travel through the cloud forest.

Iguazu Falls - stunning.

In Buenos Aires, I really liked the SAN Telmo district and the bookshop that used to be a theatre. The art museum was great too. We did a trip just outside of BA to the Parana Delta which was lovely - a collection of islands separated by streams and rivers.

It’s a really beautiful country with fabulous food and wine. I hope you both have fantastic holidays!

I'm so envious, I adored the little bit of Argentina I saw, I wish I could explore more of it. Argentinean people were incredibly friendly. Iguazu is stunning, you should absolutely try and go if you can. I stayed in the Recoleta area of BA which felt very safe, travel is really easy on the subway.
