Basically - me and DS's British Passport Holders and Citizens.

DH - Zimbabwean Passport, Permanent Resident in the UK though.......

Can anyone help me figure it out????

(I know I could just call - but I have a 'thing' about making phonecalls that aren' to friends/family and get really nervous) - and besides MN nearly always has the answer

you dont need a visa for france?

ejt1764 · 08/05/2007 10:38

You an DSs don't need a visa - you can enter freely as European citizens.

From the looks of it, dh doesn't need one either - if he has permanenent residency in the UK.

If he has a visa or other residency papers allowing him to stay in Uk, it's valid for the whole of Europe. (the Schengen area)

link here says:

Sont dispensés de visa :

  • les titulaires d?un titre de séjour délivré par un Etat appliquant les accords de Schengen ;

(dispensation from needing a visa:

people who have a residency from a country under the Schengen accord (Uk counts as one of these))

Visa requirements based on passport held not residency

so for Zimbabwean Passport

The following nationalities must apply in person for their French Visas

Visas, Required by all except the following for a period not exceeding three months

You may have already sorted it out, but thought this might help:

France is a Schengen country, UK is not. So, as a resident in UK, your DH will need a visa to visit France, or any other country in EU. If you intend to go anywhere else, ever, you might as well get a Schengen visa which covers most EU countries you might think of visiting (Holland, Spain, Portugal, Germany, etc).

I live in a Schengen country but need a visa for pretty much everywhere else. To visit UK, I got a 10 year visa and it was not a hassle. As a permanent resident in UK (as opposed to a Zimbabwean in Zimbabwe) your DH will get the longest possible visa with the least hassle.
