Airport advice Birmingham

I've really gotten myself in a tizz about taking my little boy who will be 5 months old on holiday.

I am happy with what to do once we get there but really need to take a parent-facing buggy with us (he's too small and bobbly-headed for a stroller and we're walking a lot so need something comfy).
The guidelines say "completely collapsible but how collapsible is that really? And can I take it to the actual plane or do I have to check it in before departure?

Also as he is combination fed I want to take a flask of boiling water and some powdered formula in hand luggage but is this allowed? Does it have to be under 100ml and in clear plastic bags?
The whole thing is very baffling and I feel myself beginning to get anxious about it all.
Thanks for any advice or help in advance !

I can't help with the pushchair as I have never bothered and just done slings but regarding formula, the rules are different for baby food. So it doesn't have to be under 100ml. They may ask you to taste it or take it for testing. I took several baby food pouches and a sippy cup recently (had forgotten about the sippy cup and was about to drink the water but they said it was no problem). Could you take a couple of ready made up bottles though? That might be easier.

You can use pushchair up to the aircraft doors. Don't forget though all has to go through security.

Water only up to 100ml and any liquids need to be in bags. Can you buy cartons etc instead? There is a Boots airside.

Your buggy will need to be collapsed prior to boarding and then put in hold.

Have a lovely trip

I would just buy premade formula airside.

And I’ve seen all sorts of strollers/pushchairs so I think you should be ok - what pushchair is it? Just be prepared for it to get battered - my I candy peach was never the same again!

You can pre-Order your ready made formula to be at the airside Boots if you’re worried they won’t have the right brand.

You need to take the buggy to the check in desk and have all parts of it tagged then you can take it through security all the way to the gate. Be aware there may be steps at the end. Also although most airports return it as you exit the plane, some don't so be prepared, as it can be a long walk and wait through passport control to the luggage claim. I always use a carrier too for this reason. It's also better to transfer baby to the carrier while queuing at boarding gate to make getting on plane easier.

For formula, do what everyone said, get bottles of premade at boots. Or take your own if you are ok opening and tasting if they ask. Faffing around trying to get water at right temp to add to the powder in departures would be a huge hassle.

You'll be fine. 5 months is a great age for flying. It's once they are on the move it gets tricky!

Thanks all so much for your help... feel a bit silly now because millions of people fly with babies so it must be easy to do!
But we will enjoy it all the more for getting it right at the airport.
Thanks again!
