It's very very quiet. Wi-fi reception is not great. (Perfect for me but might be a nightmare with some tweens.)

Thank you! Ok dont think they would cope with poor wifi lol. Ill keep looking thanks

what do you mean theres bad wifi and its very quiet??
Malta is the most densely populated place in europe, and has perfectly good wifi everywhere Ive stayed

mamakoukla · 08/03/2018 20:14

What time of year? What do you/they enjoy or are hoping to do?

2belles · 08/03/2018 21:01

July, just want some pool time really and a waterpark . A hotel with kids their age to hang out with.

Can get quite hot in July. Do tourist activities in the morning, have a lazy siesta (pool side under an umbrella with a book; don’t sunbathe in the middle of the day!), going swimming late afternoon into early evening. I think Valletta is the European capital of culture this year so perhaps browse the calendar for events.

Upsides are it’s low crime, safe atmosphere nearly everywhere and any time of day night, good value, often Italian style cafes and restaurants ( MAlta has strong cultural links to southern Italy).Everyone speaks English, it’s easy to get round. Few sandy beaches, usually you get into the sea via ladders on the rocks, or dive in. I’ve been a few times as my uncle and aunt live there, I’ve always liked it. July though will be HOT.

2belles · 09/03/2018 19:34

Thank you both, ill look further into it. Heat not a issue as we love it hot!! Always go away in August anyway when its high 30c.

I absolutely love Malta. Its one of my favourite places, but im wary about recommending it too much because ive heard many people not be impressed because its quite built up in the touristy bits and it can get crowded.
I usually go off season in the winter

The maltese people are generally welcoming and friendly and genuinely like the english. They mostly all speak good english as its taught in schools as a second language. British plugs, they drive on the left. Makes for a really easy holiday

Way too hard other and hilly! Water park was run down and grubby - and took over an hour to get too!

The coach transfer was way too long going by distance.

Felt the Popeye place was dangerous (teampolines too far out in the sea, kids couldn't climb back on and were left in water too deep to stand up in - plus the fish bite!

I hated it -

Branleuse · 10/03/2018 17:43

we loved popeye village, but off season there were no trampolines in the sea I think thats seperate to the main attraction. Thats certainly something to be aware of in peak season.

Thanks for your replys. I think we might leave it for this year, waterpark is important! Might go another time without the kids.
