Long weekend in Dublin

DH, DC3, DF and I are going to Dublin for a long weekend in May for DF's bday. Staying in an apartment in the northern part of the city centre (Dublin 1).

Looking for recommendations for places for breakfast, child friendly places for lunch and somewhere relaxed but a bit special for an early evening bday dinner. DF's tastes are not too adventurous.

Also any top tips for Dublin with a 3 year old.

Where are you staying? We’ve had several trips to Dublin staying at the Kingfisher (apartments & small hotel) in Parnell St, & their adjacent small restaurant/cafe serves brilliant breakfasts - delicious food, very laid back so fine with DC, & friendly staff. Our children were older so not sure about activities, but we’ve always found plenty to do in Dublin.

Thanks blogwoman. In an Airbnb 5 minutes walk away from there. Will def check it out for breakfast. Do you know if you can you eat there if you're not staying at their hotel/apartments?

www.imaginosity.ie/ One of the best activity centres my kids have been too. It features a pretend supermarket with trolleys and checkout, a pretend cafe, various dolls houses, a tv studio to film yourself with dress up clothes, sensory area for babies, a climbing frame linking 2 floors together and loads of other activities.

www.dublinzoo.ie/ The restaurant features a meerkat enclosure where you can watch their antics whilst you enjoy your lunch.

www.visitdublin.com/hooked-on-howth-dublin There are various restaurants in Howth that may fit the bill. It is a combination of fishing village with working trawlers, fish shops, a marina and a mix of fancy fine dining and takeaway dining with stunning scenery.

Yes you can eat at the Kingfisher without staying there.

I would also recommend Howth. Easy to get to by train.

Loads of lovely city centre restaurants in a long row along Stephens Green - Il Posto, Peploes, Cliff Townhouse, Hugos. South William St/South Great George's St have Red Torch Ginger, Salamander, Darwin's, Rustic Stone, Brasserie 66, Boulevard Cafe is round the corner. Also Trocadero, and Fallon and Byrne are close by (I work in the city centre and have had good night's in all of these)
