Britannia Cruise April/May

Hi. We are booked to go on a cruise to Spain/Portugal/Gibraltar with our four year old on Britannia and I have some questions that I was wondering if anyone could help with

  1. In Gibraltar we really want to do cable cars. Will there be a shuttle bus from the ship that takes us somewhere near the stop, if not is it walkable from the ship? Also would you recommend getting tickets in advance.
  2. 4 year old likes the idea of Parc Guell in Barcelona. How easy is this to get from ship ( is there e.g. a hop on hop off bus that stops near to ship) and would we need to get tickets to get in the park in advance. Or would it be more sensible to do p and o trip (that would involve dragging 4 year old round sagrada famillia first... ) 3 What is the kids clubs like? Has anyone used night nursery and did their child actually go to sleep? 4 What is the kids tea like at the buffet? 5 Would we be able to buy milk to have in our room or get some ordered to our room so ds could have some before bed? Thanks.

My DD is much older, but still enjoys the kids clubs. Consider joining the P&O for Families Facebook page, as they have loads of info.

Hi. IIRC the shuttles drop you off at Casemates Square. The cable car is about a 1.5k walk along Main Street from there. Go early as the queues build up, and Britannia is a big ship. It might be worth looking at a ships tour for this.
In Barcelona, there is a shuttle, or the public bus which will take you from the ship to the bottom of the Ramblas. You can get a HOHO from here I think, and Park Guell is on one of the routes.
Re the milk, I would take a carton from the breakfast buffet and keep it in your room fridge.
Not used the kids club, sorry.

Thanks both for the info, going to book ships tour in Gibraltar which includes cable car and do HOHO bus in Barcelona. Now to sell kids club to ds.....

If you want to see the main sites of park quell you need to book in advance. We just saw the free areas and that was enough for us but it would be impossible to see the restricted areas without booking well in advance.

Thanks for that information. I have looked into this and think it would be difficult to be certain of arriving at a specific half hour period. We may need to just look at free areas. Or anyone have any ideas what else a 4 year old might like in Barcelona?

There is an aquarium- I haven't been to it so can't say anything else

There is also a funfair on Tibidabo

Hi Vanilla, when are you going? Think we are doing the same cruise with our kids but at a later date so would be really keen to hear your experience if you don't mind sharing when you get back?

Hiya. We went last May. Barcelona ended up being a bit of a wash out as there was torrential rain so we ended up sitting on the HOHO bus most of the day!
Gibraltar was great, definitely do the cable cars! We went on a beach trip in Ibiza, tram tour in Lisbon and just wandered round Cartagena and Cadiz (ds was surprisingly tolerant of the Roman archaeology!)
Ds loved loved loved the kids club.Especially the pirate treasure hunt round the ship and the afternoon tea picnic! Wanted to go to kids club every sea day! There was a mini soft play which was the main attraction!
We had such a great time we are going on.another cruise on Britannia May half term week (sadly restricted to school holidays these days!)
