Running out of ideas for places to go if we want a look out at the weekend. Can’t begin to list all the places we have been! Thank you

Do you have children with you?

Hale Country Club and Spa

Knutsford for lunch and a walk around Tatton Park

The Church Inn Mobberley for the best pub food/atmosphere and country walks

Bramhall Park

Alderley Edge for cocktails

Nearer to an hours journey but ............
Chester
The train Liverpool only takes just over an hour
Ness Gardens on the Wirral - takes about an hour in the car. There's a decent café, a trail for the children if you've got any, and lots of snowdrops this weekend.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 24/02/2018 09:17

Thank you. No young children. Ness Gardens is the only one we haven’t been to. This is the problem!! Thanks for all suggestions though, others reading this thread will find them useful

Buxton is lovely, the ski thing next to Trafford is good too for something a bit different.

HisBetterHalf · 26/02/2018 08:45

Chester Zoo, Speke Hall, Cheshire Oaks, Loggerheads, Mau Famau, Mersey Ferry

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 27/02/2018 11:36

Thank you, a couple more we haven’t been to.
To add in a couple of my recent favourites for anyone else looking for ideas: the Manchester Museum; the People’s Museum; Whitworth Art Gallery; we’ve done most of these walks - fairly easy going; Formby & Crosby for beaches; Port Sunlight. Been to Tatton Park and Dunham Massey more times than I care to remember!

Haigh Hall (near Bolton football stadium) was always one of my favourite places to do with ds's when they were younger - lovely views, brilliant picnic/kite flying place. Road train that takes you round the park and a secret mini train place in the middle of the woods. Great cafe and playground. Perfect!

flumpybear · 27/02/2018 11:44

Alderley edge has a good walk up to the edge lol

What about a trip around arighi bianchi? No kids = money to spend on nice furniture 🤣

tararabumdeay · 27/02/2018 11:54

The garden of the old pub at the end of the runway where you can watch the planes take off and land - search the airport pub. Styal woods and Quarry Bank just up the road from there. As is Lindow Common where Pete Marsh was found, that's the only place I've been 'wild' ice skating.

Fosterdog123 · 27/02/2018 12:01

Warrington museum is fabulous.
Beeston castle.
Delamere forest.
Plane spotting at the airport.
Rivington.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 27/02/2018 12:11

More great ideas, thank you. Sorry if I wasn’t clear, no children (apart from rare occasion when we have visitors), so generally looking for short adult trips out.

FeedtheTree · 27/02/2018 12:12

Have you walked from Ramsbottom to Irwell Vale (or beyond) and taken the mini steam train back? That's a good one.

Ribble Valley? That's stunning

Fosterdog123 · 27/02/2018 12:15

My suggestions were all with adults in mind!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 27/02/2018 12:20

That wasn’t aimed at you @Fosterdog123 or anyone in particular - just wanted to be clear! Am appreciative of all suggestions, honestly!

Parkate on the Wirral
Cheshire oaks
West Kirkby is fab too

Zoflorabore · 17/06/2018 22:44

Kirby Lonsdale! We're in Liverpool and I can't remember exactly how far away it is from us but it's worth the trip.

If you're looking for an amazing pub to eat at then I suggest "The Colliers Arms" in Crank just off the east lancs road which connects Liverpool to Manchester as you know. It's prob 30 mins max from you, the most amazing home cooked food, a hidden gem and the journey to it from the main roads is like being in Postman Pat land, all little bridges and cute houses Grin

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 20/06/2018 21:39

Thank you
