Help! We are thinking of trying to go away in April with our 2 little ones. But I have no idea where to start!
I'm ruling out hotels as can think of nothing worse than sitting in a dark hotel room once they've gone to bed. But all the villas I'm looking at seem so expensive! We love Portugal but I can't find anything so am looking elsewhere now.

Is their a middle ground I'm missing?

A couple of years when our little girl was around that age we stayed in a one bedroom apartment on a family hotel complex.
So we had a separate bedroom (the longe became her bedroom) and balcony to read our books and have a couple of drinks after she went to sleep.
The last one we stayed at was Bonair in Mallorca - it was good, would recommend.

Another vote for the Bonaire in Mallorca, it's perfect for little ones

When ours were that age we tended to go AI with them. We'd do dinner, they could run around and then we'd push them in the buggy to get them to sleep, then drink gin in the bar (with them sleeping in their buggies).

The thing you need to look for is somewhere which does a family suite/aparthotel/bungalows with facilities. If you're not going in peak season it can be quite reasonable. There are 5 of us now and there's no way DH and I intend to share a bedroom with the three of them!

Talayot Apartments Menorca. Seperate bedrooms to living area loads of kid friendly places nearby.

I only do Airbnb now for the same reason. We tried all sharing a room once, nobody got any sleep! Some airbnbs have cots too which lightens the luggage. Or maybe try eurocamp.

At that age we found a hotel room fine as long as it's got a balcony/ terrace. You don't want to be too far from them anyway. Or push them in buggy as someone mentioned

The Quintessential near Loule in the Algarve is worth a look for you. It is a converted farm which has been converted into about 4 or 5 cottages. They are really well equipped for your kids. We went with our 2 a couple of years ago and stayed in the Orange Cottage and had an amazing, and really relaxing time.

Some great ideas thank you! I'm not sure we can go until later in the year now but am still researching and hoping to find something nice but family friendly!
