Insect Repellent for 4 month old

Help!! We are going to the Caribbean next month to show off our new DS to family. I've been looking in the shops for insect repellent and everything seems to say 6 months plus. I asked in Boots today and they said that they don't have anything for less than 6 months and we'll just have to try and keep him covered up!! They were really nice and suggested asking GP but I wondered if anyone here had any ideas. I've already thought that we could use a plug in, spray his clothes with repellent, I could eat lots of garlic and hope it goes through to my milk Anyone got any more ideas?

aromakids do a mosquito repellent suitable from 3 months or 6 Kg.

It's called Mike Mozzie and is just natural essential oils

you can get the gel from Beaming Baby (which is a gorgeous catalogue anyway - lots of lovely tempting things)

Don't forget a midge net for his cot and one for his pram. When the midges were't too bad we put the repellant on the netting rather than on dd (was 3/4 months at the time). I'm positive we got ours from Boots. It was definately suitable for that age and I'm sure it was boots own brand roll on.

I made my own for a baby in Spain a few years back

Massage oil and Citronella oil mixed and put in to a spray bottle.

Its citronella oils which is in baby insect repellant anyhow and I wasn't going to pay the price of that.

never had any problems

Thanks so much. Bobsmum where abouts are you? (and your evil midges!) I was thinking of citronella but hadn't thought of mixing it with massage oil, Slalomsuki. I'm a bit worried about him sucking his hands - would that matter do you think?
I asked at the pharmacist today about something to put on any bites that he does get but they didn't have anything. That spray looks good bobsmum. Wrigglejiggle, we've got a Samsonite pop up cot which has a mossie net on it. I've also just bought a Shade a babe for his pushchair which has a mossie net as well as cutting out the sun. We tried it out today but not sure sun in Newcastle compares to the Caribbean!

Just had a good luck at the websites Bobsmum and Aromakids are doing a summer value deal on the gel, spray and a sort of after bite spray all for £10 +pp. I think I'll be ordering that as I reckon it will be cheaper than making my own. I might be pushing my luck now, but anyone got any ideas about what I can take to reduce effects of bites for me? I'm BF and have always taken anti-histamine as I react quite badly. Thanks
