Marrakech- where to stay?

Looking at a short break to Marrakech in the spring. There seem to be a lot of very nice hotels to choose from! If you know Marrakech, can you suggest best areas to stay in for easy access to main things to see, and/or areas to avoid?
That’s a key factor for us, if you can recommend hotels or again hotels to avoid that would also be very helpful. Thanks!

We are going to Riad Dar One as suggested by a poster on here. Going in mid April which looks pleasant but not too hot and flying with BA, as don't really trust RyanAir, so hoping will be a slightly more pleasant experience! RyanAir and EasyJet are OK for short flights, but since this is twice as long as somewhere like Ibiza, I think it's worth paying a bit more...

Will report back! Have wanted to go for many years and despite having gone to India on my own for 4 months 5 years ago, I'd never have dared go to Morocco as a single woman. Fortunately current DP is 6ft 3, so feel a bit safer going with him....

Stay in a Riad in the old centre. Much nicer than a European style hotel.

Don’t.
A man with a lizard in his head mugged us Hmm

Riad Berbere is amazing. Managed by Ingrid and so peaceful. It’s officially a b&b butbso much more. We love their spa treatments, the cooks will cook a feast for you, the smell of rose oil that greets you is beautiful. It’s heaven! Not expensive at all - Ingrid should charge more!

@Destinysdaughter I'm jealous! I hope it's as lovely as it was when we went Smile

Hi
We went last Feb half term, 2 mums with 2 sons! Had a fab time - stayed at Riad Signature. Booked a day trip out to the Atlas Mountains & went climbing plus quad biking! Very very reasonable prices, only 5-10 mins walk to the Medina

rosettesforjill the reviews on TripAdvisor are amazing! Really looking forward to it. Thanks for the recommendation 💜

Anyone got any tips for places they enjoyed, things to avoid and what to wear?

destinysdaughter the musee YSL and majorlle, get a pass for both attractions from the musee YSL and you can skip the long line.
If you are into morrocan architecture and design, visit the madrasa ,Bahia palace.
I highly recommend visiting the berber villages in the Atlas Mountains. The views were breathtaking . Essauria on the Atlantic coast is so beautiful,so much history and beautiful architecture, you can also visit an argan farm on the way to Essauria.

April can be pretty hot specially daytime, I recommend bringing light clothes, sundresses ,maxi cotton dresses, sun hat, you can wear pretty much anything, no restrictions on what to wear, but do bring a cardi or jacket, it can get cold in the evenings,

We didnt eat much out we mostly ate at hotels, mamounia, royal mansour, hotel selman, the food was pretty amazing,

Another recommendation for Riad Magellan- very central and just lovely. We split the trip with a Riad a 10 min drive outside of the centre- Riad Jawad - it was magical and they have a pool for when you get tired of the souk
