Anyone been? DBIL and DSIL have looked at reviews and think it is basically indoor play, but very expensive, nothing for adults, but adults have to pay. Also too young for their eldest (15?).

I thought it looked like fun, it's par for the course that adults pay to get into attractions anyway and it's well nigh impossible to find something to please the whole brood every day when then there is an age gap of about 9 years. Having been away with them before I have learnt 75% of suggestions are not suitable for one or more of their clan, although when we've said well we'll just go ourselves they turn up and enjoy it just as much if not more than us.

Back to the point. Anyone been?

I've been. I've got to be honest I kind of hated it. We were staying at the Center Parcs next door a few Summers ago. It was a fairly rainy day so we decided to check it out. I would say definitely much too young for a 15 year old I'm afraid. I thought the outdoor attractions were better for our 5 and 6 year olds. Inside it was darkish, smallish and there are SO many wonderful places to visit in the Netherlands (I'm an Amsterdam blogger so I know the country quite well) that by comparison this felt a bit rubbish. I'm really sorry. I know its not what you want to hear! My kids would probably disagree with my view.

Thanks Tracelab. We will be staying at the Centerparcs. I'm not surprised Plopsa not great for the 15 year old.

On previous joint holidays we've got a bit bogged down trying to find something that suits a wide age range and swimming every day or just playing in the garden, and DH and I have to be quite firm if we want to go and do our own thing (we have one DS, who is younger). My side of the family would strike and do their own thing every day unless we all specifically fancied the same outing, DH's side are more inclined to go everywhere in convoy.

Thanks - didn't really expect any response, never mind for an Amsterdam blogger!

Any specific tips for Amsterdam with a total of 4 children from 7 - 15? All boys.

One of the Dutch Center Parcs (De Kempervennen) has a snow dome on site where you can ski and snow board. It's great! Keeps them occupied for days and not too dear

KingLooieCatz · 15/02/2018 16:33

I suspect not the one we're going to! Can't even remember the name but it's near Plopsa, that much we know. DBIL did the booking to be fair, following protacted negotiation on destinations.

Oh! Sorry I didn't realise it was actually booked

LOADS of recommendations for kids in Amsterdam (I'm a mum of two boys myself!)

Check out www.amsterdamwonderland.com and please come back to me if there's anything at all I can help with.

(If they're into football take them to Ajax. Even if there isn't a match you can do a tour!)

whataboutbob · 15/02/2018 21:38

I'd struggle to take seriously any place called Plopsa.

whataboutbob · 15/02/2018 21:38

Surely a case of nominative determinism!

KingLooieCatz · 16/02/2018 09:36

Thanks Trace. The IL's are keen on football, I'll tell them about Ajax and check out that link.
