Jura region in France

Hi - does anyone have any tips or advice about holidays in the Jura region of France?

Looking at campsites - maybe Le Fayolen, Pergola or other Eurocamp type places.

We stayed at Domaine du Chalain in the Jura with Canvas Holidays last year. It's set on a lake with the campsite backing onto a cliff area - very picturesque.

There's a pool complex with slides and stuff - which was a bit busy for us and we preferred the lake - which has a few different beaches around the edge. You can cycle or walk round the lake. And there are pedalos/boats you can hire to go out onto the lake. Excellent 'go-ape' rope climbing in the trees activity just a short walk along the lake from the campsite.

Thanks for your reply- we are going to the same campsite. Not really camped before and slightly worried as have read the weather is very changeable! DH is keen to explore with maybe a day trip to Switzerland.

Rosybbell are you staying in a tent or mobile home?

When we were there are the very end of August / beginning of Sept and it was really warm/hot - although there was a big storm on the last night. We were in a tent and although it was a bit noisy from the rain and thunder, we stayed nice and dry. If the weather is rainy during the day, you could spend the day at the indoor pool. The area is pretty green (compared to the Ardeche where we'd spent most of our holiday) so it must get more rain than the south - but it makes it look much more beautiful than the parched south.

At stayed at le fayolan a few years ago. Unfortunately that was the very wet year and it rained constantly. Everywhere else in France was the same though.
My children loved the monkey course and high ropes. We went to Geneva for the day.

Are you driving from calais? Are you stopping on the way?

Thank you for replying! Yes we are staying in one of their tents - called a coco sweet (?!) I think. There were no mobile homes left directly with the campsite and the ones via Canvas were ££££.

We are going to a family wedding in Lille the day before so will drive from there - around 5 and half hours. The way home we will try and get to Calais in one day, I think it is around 6 hours.
