Rear facing carseats for up to 4-5 years?

Hiya,
I have looked everywhere but can only find forward facing car seats now that my DS is starting to grow out of his seat (up to 13kg).

I still think that he will be safer rearward facing even though he is 16 months now, but can not find a seat to buy in the UK (there are plenty abroad).

Does anyone know of any?

I would have thought that by that age and weight their legs would be too long for rear-facers.
A good forward-facing seat like the Maxi-Cosi Tobi is v safe, has a 5-point harness and should last till he's 18kg or 4ish.

Not seen one for sale in UK , you might have to import one, although it may not then be British Standard tested. In some countries it is normal to rearward face much longer than in UK. We had a taxi minibus transfer in Majorca one year (dd was 3) and she was in a a Jane rearward seat with loads of room to spare.

Ok LIZS might have to do that.

Mrsbadger, the risk of serious injury in a forward facing rather than rearward facing is almost 5 (or so) times higher, coz their necks are still not quite strong enough to deal with the forces in an accident.
But the legroom thing will be an issue you're right...

You can find some info on www.rearfacing.co.uk
Have a look on the FAQ to find out how.

Basically you can import one, go to get one in Milton Keynes, or contact your volvo dealer.

They are much much safer, and I don't understand why they are not law here!
