Im looking into going the Algarve in August. We have never been. Thinking of trying self catering for a change, so looking at private apartments possibly.
Can anyone recommend somewhere? We are a family of 4, children are aged 16 and 8.
Thank you ☺

There's a few nice restaurants on the main road outside rocha brava, we loved the Jardim do Farol so you don't have to go as far as carvoiero to eat every night if you don't want to.

Thanks everyone just waying up flights. I have seen an apartment called Casa Susant on the Monte Dourado complex that looks nice.

If you like it and it has good reviews I would move fast. If you are in any doubts the reception staff at Monte Dourado are very helpful and speak very good English.
As the second year we visited we rented an apartment which clearly specified Monte Dourado in the title yet it was actually on the Colina Verde site just behind MD.

I know that apartment although I think it has been renovated since the last time I was in it. I’m sure it will be fine, and you can always look round and make notes of any other apartments/locations should you want to come back

Monte Dourado is lovely laid back site and not too far to stroll down to all those lovely restaurants. The steep walk back up the hill helps burn off some calories and it gets easier as the holiday goes on.
If you are there the last Saturday in August they usually have a farewell to summer party which is a nice way to end your holidays.
Enjoy.
