has anyone been to Lykia World in Turkey?

we are booked to go in July with DS (then 6) and DD (2).
I get a bit uncomfortable going to new places where I dont know where things are and how they work (not things like the tv but things like the creche booking system etc).

If anyone has been before and has any tips for me I'd be very grateful.

TIA

Yes I have been twice - last June and in August 2000 when the ds's were 3 and 6. We didn't use the kids club on our first visit so I don't have any info about the creche but last year the older clubs were run on a turn up and register for each session basis. There is a notice board in the Village Square with activities for different age groups so you can decide in advance what you think your 6 year old might enjoy doing.
Be aware that the only shallow pool is sited within the kids club apart from a small shingly beach area with shallow pool and little slides up in the Children's Paradise. All the other pools are deep. Can your 6 year old swim?

The transfer from Dalaman is very tedious by coach (1.5 to 2 hours) and I recommend getting a private transfer as this will cut your journey time to about 1.25 hours. The company we used were very good.

What room type have you booked and are you staying in the Residence or Village?

If you don't already have a map ask the UK Lykia office to send you one so you can see the layout before you go. The resort is very large and hilly so if you are staying in the Village section (as we did on both occasions) be prepared for a walk to the three main buffet restaurants. There is a bus that will take you up to the Children's Paradise waterpark if you don't fancy pushing the buggy uphill! There is also a small open air childrens restaurant in the Childrens Paradise where you can grab a snack for lunch if you don't want to return to the buffet restaurants. We would generally catch the bus down to the Marina restaurant for lunch though as there is a much much wider selection of food and you can also get beer or wine (and a fabulous view) with your lunch
too.

Have a great time.

thank you so much copycat - I feel better already just for knowing those few bits
We have booked the private transfer already (I think the guy i booked with gave me the thumbs up on that).
DS can swim (doggy paddle at the moment but he's improving every week so hopefully come July he'll be stronger still) but DD will need the shallow pool sometimes so thanks for pointing that out.
I'm off to call the office now for a map.
thanks again.

Hi,
I have been to Lykia world twice (once in April 2007 for 10 days and one in 2003 for a week).

Both times we had a FANTASTIC time. i cannot recommend it highly enough. We used all the kids clubs (mine are 14, 8 and 19 months). My 8 year old cried when we left and insists we go back soon. THe teenage club was great as it forced the kids to get to know each other. The mini club/ jokers was amazing - we hardly saw our 8 year old son who insisted on being there all day including meals. We drew the line at dinner although he did go back after dinner for an hour on the dance floor. Just as a note my son used to be painfully shy about dancing and never did it. He would rather have a tooth pulled. By day 3 we had to drag him off the dance floor. The A team (entertainers) really boosted his confidence. He made LOTS of friends his age and they are still in contact now that we have returned to Reading.
Our baby LOVED the baby club - I thot he might cry for me but he did not cry at all. The girls are very caring and comforting. We have been back a month now and my kids still sing the Lykia anthems (You will get to know them well from the evening entertainment which is worth going to - a lot of fun.)Funnily enough they were singing them in the car on the way home from school today.
Food is AMAZING. Had to pull back after the first few days and eat lighter in the daytime.
My DH is usually quite a reserved person but he was up on stage bellydancing and even sang voluntarily at the karaoke bar - UNHEARD OF EVER.
Rooms were very comfortable - had connecting double on the seafront (Village). A bit of a treck but I needed to work off all that food anyway!
I did latin dance class, bellydancing, tango, salsa, jazz, kickboxing etc etc etc.
Kids were in a stage presentation at the end of the week - so cute.
I could go on and on. All in all again a great experience and the best holiday my kids have had - even though we have travelled extensively.
