Looking at booking this for a summer holidays. It's sooooo much cheaper. Has anyone ever been? Is the swimming facilities as good?

Haven’t been for years but they used to,be excellent.being abroad and the different languages made it more fun. I’m convinced our youngest has chosen languages because she went to the Dutch kids club when she was tiny. Somebody of them had good places to cycle to,outside the park which meant you could escape plastic world briefly.

auserinamillion · 21/01/2018 21:59

Thanks crumbs, can you remember which one you went too?

Following!

umizoomi · 21/01/2018 22:49

We went to de vossemeren in Belgium last year.

It was great.

The lodges were pretty identical to sherwood and the swimming was fab. There was also another pool/beach type thing called discovery cove which was also free, sort of a pirate cove with sand, water and high ropes/boat type theme.

Restaurants ok, but cheaper than here. They do a meal deal type thing where you buy a package. One night has to be in the buffet restaurant. I think it was £160 for 4 if us (2 adults/2 kids) to eat for 3 nights

Nice lake in the middle, very flat for cycling activities cheaper and you get some activity vouchers when you book.

We loved it and would def go back

umizoomi · 21/01/2018 22:50

You could also cycle out of the park

curcur · 21/01/2018 22:53

Been to both in belgium and one in france. Great experience and the vossermeren has some really great, easy cycle routes outside the park.

choirmumoftwo · 21/01/2018 22:54

Haven't been for some time but de kempervenen in Holland used to be great and so much cheaper than here.

theconstantinoplegardener · 21/01/2018 22:58

We went to De Kempervennen (sp?) in the Netherlands in 2016. It was great - fabulous pool and water slides, and lots of other activities too. We didn't cycle outside the park, but visited a Dutch friend locally and saw lots of Dutch teens riding around (without helmets!) on dedicated cycle paths.

somewhereovertherain · 22/01/2018 14:37

Done a few in Belgium and the Netherlands. Love them similar to uk ones. Pools at the 3 we’ve done all good.

FairyPenguin · 22/01/2018 14:38

Been to De Kempervennen. Highlight was the pool with fish tanks so you can swim and see the fish when you went underwater. The kids were mesmerised.

AuntLydia · 22/01/2018 14:39

We're planning our third holiday there this year! We've done Belgium and Holland and loved it. Swimming facilities were great at both.

auserinamillion · 23/01/2018 21:48

Thanks so much everyone. I gonna take the plunge. Can I ask how you all got there? Drive or ferry?

OP posts:
AuntLydia · 23/01/2018 22:50

We did ferry - Dover Dunkirk. It wasn't too much driving the other end.

prettymess · 23/01/2018 22:51

Vossemeren was lovely. Been twice now with my family. It suits DS with autism.

Kerberos · 23/01/2018 22:55

Het Heiderjbos is good! Near the German border. We had a lovely week there.

bruffin · 23/01/2018 23:02

Been to
Kempervennen
Het Meerdal
De Huttenheugte
De Eemhof
Erperheide
And the one with the tropical dome i cant remember the name of.
Swimming pools are great and so are the kids clubs, my dc adored the Pepe tv live shows even though they didnt understand the language.

austenozzy · 23/01/2018 23:15

We went to the one to the north of Paris. It was really good but costs worked out about the same as a British one. Food was v pricey. Nice being in rural France though.

bruffin · 23/01/2018 23:40

The last week of auvust is cheap as the Dutch have gone back to school, same with Duinrell

umizoomi · 29/01/2018 10:27

We drove and went on the tunnel.

It would be easier for us to go Hull to Zeebrugge on the ferry but it's really expensive.

PineappleScrunchie · 29/01/2018 10:31

We’ve been to a few Dutch ones and Eleveden in U.K. Check the reviews of the individual parks and accommodation as personally I think the standard is a bit lower than the U.K. parks. Having said that there is often a lot more to do for free.

Waterpixie · 29/01/2018 10:32

We do Stena Harwich-Hook of Holland on the overnight crossing and use Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay for the bulk of it (can use up to £210). We've done it 3 times and it's the easiest journey and you end up pretty central in NL to travel over there too.

thereinmadnesslies · 29/01/2018 10:36

We did de kempervennen. It was definitely cheaper. The accomodation was nicer than the basic British centre parcs option, although the lodges don’t have ovens which was a surprise. The pool was nice for primary age but had less flumes, nothing like tropical cyclone. De Kempervennen has a indoor ski centre so the DC both did a ski course which was a nice bonus.

OhMyGoddd · 29/01/2018 12:38

Does anyone know which one has the tropical dome?

bruffin · 29/01/2018 14:00

Its Het Heijderbos with the tropical dome, also has an escape room

OhMyGoddd · 30/01/2018 10:28

Thank you @bruffin!

Which one would you say is best for under sixes?
