Florida?

DH has decided he wants to make this year the big U.S. trip. Is it too late to book for this summer?
I hate holidays. I find them horribly stressful. Save me from messing up!
He thinks two weeks. Not long enough?
What must we do or avoid?
Will it be horribly hot in August?
Kids 8 and teen.
Help!!

I didn't book our Florida holiday until the January to go in Juy. Yes, August will be hot and humid, but everywhere has aircon so it is easy to get out of the heat. We had 11 days which was plenty for us. We did 4 Disney Parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. We also did an airboat ride and drove to Cape Canaveral to the Kennedy Space Centre.

I know DH would love to do Kennedy Space Centre.
I'm worried the youngest may find the heat and walking a bit much.

There would be a lot of walking if you do the theme parks. Could you go during October half term instead?

Not long enough and can't take the eldest out of school. GCSE time.

You’ve missed free dining. That comes out in April for 2019.

Do you want to do disney and universal?

Do you want to stay on or off site?

Do you want to hire a car.

buy the books WDW with kids and beyond WDW with kids. honestly, I found them an absolute life saver took the panic out of sorting it out completely. they have touring plans for the parks in the back as well which were really useful.

I would go for at least 3 weeks personally so that you can have some away time from the parks. we did a week in Islamorada florida keys and 2 weeks in Disney when mine were roughly the same age. The thing about florida is that they are used to this - plenty of places to sit and chill if you are tired and if you aren't in a rush you can take your time. the best villa we had was on sunset lakes because it was really convenient.

We booked in January for July. Was very hot and (briefly) thundery most afternoons. Dc were 6 & 8, they managed amazingly until the last couple of days, we went for 2 weeks but didn’t leave Disney so not sure it would be long enough f your wanting to see more.

We went the last week in July/first week in August, and it was very hot and humid. Like PP stated, everywhere has aircon and plenty of rest stops. There was a thunder storm most days about 4/5pm, didn't last long... And to tell you the truth, we looked forward to them to cool us down.

It is a very active holiday with lots of walking, we did a park one day and had the next two just chilling or sightseeing. We stayed on international drive and rented a car, this gave us the opportunity to go to Disney/universal etc in our own time without relying on buses. Then we could travel to other places/shopping/malls etc. Fantastic holiday.

We booked last week for this April (our first time going!) so definitely not too late.
