Travel Insurance question

Right. Im not sure if this is a really really stupid question or not.

I have annual worldwide travel insurance for the family. This is due to run out beginning of August.

I have just booked a holiday for end of August. Soooooo if for any reason we had to cancel that holiday for a reason that would resonably be covered by insurance, would we be able to claim on our current Virgin Travel Insurance, albeit that it will finish before the actual holiday starts?

I have tried to get Insurance which covers the follow on year from my active insurance but you cant do this.

Normally i wouldnt worry so much but we have pushed the boat out this year...

If im being absolutely bonkers please feel free to tell me!

TIA

You need to renew your insurance at the end of July to get cover

Thnks Loni - yes I will do that anyway, but say something happened before end of July?

As the dates of travel are outside of your period of cover, I would say no - not covered

BUT it will depend on your cover & the insurer. Some will offer cancellation cover up until the end of your policy, some won't as the travel dates are outside of your policy period.

Read your policy documents & policy booklet as they should answer your question

You could also look to purchase a single trip cover if you are concerned Smile

Im not overly worried about it - just seems a bit barking, i have checked the wording of my policy and its not particularly clear.

I have never thought about it before - and i just keep a rolling travel insurance going, but in hindsite it might actually not be worth me doing that.

Thanks for your responces.

I would ring and speak to someone as policies can be very different and the policy booklets can be confusing (as well as long-winded). Don’t rely on internet opinions on this.
