Walt Disney work with disabilities

Hi
Had anyone done Walt Disney world with a disabled child. We are in the process of getting a blue badge in the UK - can we use that in America? I will need to hire a chair there for my son and I have an invisible illness - anything else I need to know?
Thanks

I would check with their guest services, in Paris you can get a pass from the Town Hall which can avoid the longer queues, etc. Well worth looking in to.

I didnt do it with a physically disabled child but I took my 11 year old last year. They have social issues and processing issues, nothing diagnosed. Couldnt cope with the crowds at Disney (Magic Kingdom was dreadfully busy) and the noise levels at Universal. We did Universal and Disney. Quite overwhelmed with it all. So I scaled back and we did little, smaller things off the beaten track which were very enjoyable. I did use the fast passes for some rides but we just accepted we couldnt do everything. I built in to our very flexible schedule lots of down time at the hotel. My DC has raved more about other things since than Disney - I dont think it was a particularly big hit!!

Head over to The Dibb forum, everyone is very friendly and helpful. As well as all the usual trip planning advice there is also a special needs section.

At Gatwick you can get a lanyard that’s for hidden disabilities and illnesses. Staff in Orlando knowmit and will take you to a quiet and quicker line for customs. Sometimes the lines can be a few hours wait.

If you are on Facebook there are some very good Disney pages to help you.

Thank you for all the advice
