Driving holiday to France, taking in Disney

Hi all,
After a bit of advice from those in the know. Thinking of organising a trip to France in July, with DH and DC, for around 2 weeks. Looking to relax and take in a bit culture, but also have some things for the DC (2 and 4). Accommodation with a pool would be good, as long as it was safe for DC.
I would like to be close enough to Disney to do a trip (maybe on the train) but not actually in a Disney hotel as I'd prefer to see a bit more of France. Very early stages of planning so apologies for being vague!

Anyone have any advice or recommendations for where to stay? I'm happy to consider anything but definitely not camping!

By camping do you mean no to a campsite with other accommodation e.g. mobile homes/chalets or do you just mean no in a tent ?

There is a popular site La Croix Du Vieux Port in Berny Riviere which organizes trips to both Paris and Disney and there is a great deal to do on the site and in the local area, there is an array of different accommodations on the site from apartments, lodges, tree houses, chalets and safari tents and you can book direct with site or one of many operators, Eurocamp, Canvas, Lifestyle, Al fresco.

Are you planning to stay in one place? As the advantage of driving is that you can easily move. Why not stay in a accommodation very close to Paris/DLP (could be a cheap/basic Ibis as you won't spend much time there) for a few days but spend the rest of the time in other locations so you can see more of France.

Villages Nature Paris is owned by Center Parcs www.centerparcs.com/gb-en/france/fp_VN_holiday-park-villages-nature-paris?pl=teaser and is 6km from Disneyland.
La Croix du vieux Pont is another recommended holiday village near Paris.
In Brittany, I'd suggest Emerald Coast Gites www.francefamilyholidays.com
In Dordogne have a look at Domaine de Peyrecaty www.peyrecaty.com
Further south, I'd recommend Imagine Rousillon imagineroussillon.com

I second La Croix Du Vieux Pont, fab campsite with loads to do. It is about 20 mins from the Armistice Clearing near Compiegne which will have some significance this year.

Thank you everyone! I'll have a look at those Smile

Ricekrispie22 Have you been to imagine Roussillon before or would you recommend it in the summer and did you drive or fly? We usually go to Canet area on a campsite and DH sis and has said they would like to join us but BIL doesnt want to do the long drive and SIL refuses to stay in a caravan or tent on site we stay so keen to find suitable alternative

dolfinne Yes we've been to imagine Roussillon in the summer. It was absolute bliss but a little too swish for us! We went by Eurostar to Avignon (we had vouchers to use from a previous Eurostar service delay) and then hired a car from Avignon.

Also went to La Croix du Vieux Pont last summer. We found the kids (5 and 9) were so happy there they chose not to go to Disneyland, which was about 1 1/2 hours away.

Lots of kids clubs with a variety of ages and also cycling lessons for littlies.
