Has anyone stayed on a Landal resort before? Thinking about the one in Warsberg.

Ooh, I booked Landal lommenbergen for the end of Jan and I'm beginning to wish I'd done het Vennebos instead. Blush(impulse wine booking and last years crap experience at CP) so following for advice!

Jesamine · 31/12/2017 22:25

I have - what would you like to know?

SokokeCat · 31/12/2017 22:32

We've been to Landals Lommerbergen...we were there for New Year last year. We've also been to Hof Van Saksen which, whilst excellent, was far too long a drive.
Lommerbergen was good, it was snowing which the kids loved. We hired bikes and cycled around, visited a few local attractions including Eftling. The park itself was fine for my two (then aged 7 and 11); they liked the pool, the restaurants, the accommodation etc.
We had been spoilt the year before with Hof, but we were more than happy with Lommerbergen.

We're looking at Landals again for this year as the kids want to go back, we'll do a different park though just for variety.

We've been there. It was lovely. Accommodation was very good, spacious, clean and new. The pool was great. Tin tray rides were very popular with the kids. Cable car rides into town made a refreshing change from driving.ice cream Restaurants at the bottom selling spaghetti ice cream. Restaurants on site were good. Can't fault it really. Very happy family holiday.

Forgot to say on site bakery. Kids went off on there own every morning to buy fresh rolls and croissants for breakfast. They were only young and loved the freedom. Happy days

We have been to Landal Het Vennenbos. All in all a fantastic holiday but the accommodation was basic ( I think other Landals have more updated accommodation). The pool was fabulous though as was the rest of the park.

I've been to Landal in Heimbach, Germany, the week after it opened. Excellent accommodation and great views. Very steep hills though! Pool was OK, but not Center Parcs style.

Thanks all. jesamine was wondering if accommodation was ok and if there was enough to do. I noticed there was a freibad in the town. Can't wait to show the kids Spaghettieis. All sounds great. Never done Landal before and fancied a change from canvas holidays.

We have been to Hoog Vaals a few times and the kids would love to go back. Great beauty treatments, restaurant and car free site. Plenty to do for younger and older kids on site and around Vaals ( must to to the icecream salon- fab)

We stayed in a mobile home, but one of the older ones. it was a little bit tired, but fine. They are in the process of replacing these and the newer ones are a lot smarter. The Landal mobile homes are on reasonably spacious pitches. Canvas and Vacansoleil are also there, but quite squashed up but closer to the pool/restaurant etc. There are also some purpose built lodges/bungalows at the other end of the site. Some have been updated, some not. They are spread out with lots of shrubbery in between. The site is on top of a steep hill so we had a gret view from our mobilhome.

The pool is very popular but not massive so can be a little overcrowded at busy times. There is a slide and a few things that squirt water out/make jacuzzi style bubbles. There is also a toddler pool with a mini slide. It's not as fancy as some pools we've seen on other sites, but my junior school aged kids found it enough. It was especially good when it was raining! The pool in town appeared popular, but we didn't use it. There are little play areas dotted around and a bigger one with an airbag bouncy thing near the pool. There are a couple of volleyball/tennis courts, table tennis tables and a football area.

The campsite is 95% dutch visitors, it's a dutch company, but we had no problem communicating in english. There is a well stocked little supermarket on site for bread/croissants and most other groceries. We tended to use the Lidl at the bottom of the hill or drive a little further to the REWE and Aldi for a better range. We didn't use the restaurant/bar but there seemed to be events organised daily. our mobilehome and also the lodges/bungalows were far enough away that we weren't disturbed.

There are lots of walks from the site, some through vineyards and others through forests. We mainly go on holiday for this so there was plenty to keep us occupied as there are lots of well marked trails around the Moselle. You can walk through the woods to the Saarburg greifvogel park where we enjoyed a fantastic birds of prey show. There is a rodelbahn and a pancake house near the chairlift. My two enjoyed these. The chairlift was fun to go into town (get your tokens at the campsite - much cheaper). Saarburg is quite pretty for a walk with a few cafes/restaurants but the Eiscafes were our favourite.

There was quite a lot to do in the area, but we mostly stuck to hiking/castles/river. Luxembourg is not far and we enjoyed the Mullerthal trail. It's not far to France, either.

jesamine thanks. It sounds perfect. We have booked a Landal bungalow as it worked out cheaper than Canvas. Love pancakes so pancake house sounds great. Thanks for giving so much detail. Really excited now Smile

@jesamine and @fatbottomgirl67 If I may revive this thread, we were looking at Warsberg too for this summer - do you think it would be possible to stay there without a car ? (Thinking of flying in to Luxembourg or Frankfurt Hahn)? Could you walk into Saarburg or did you need to take the chair lift?

Jesamine · 24/01/2018 15:54

It's walkable, but down a very steep hill and then steps. Depends how fit you are! The campsite shop is ok-I wouldn't fancy walking back up the hill with a load of shopping. For sightseeing it's fine though.
