What is a nice area of France to go to?

Looking at going camping in France for a week.

Somewhere with nice, easy walking in the area, good scenery. We have a 6yo dd so somewhere where there would be attractions/days out aimed at her age group.

Any ideas?

Haute Savoie Samoens is fabulous. Municipal campsite in village - others scattered around the valley. 1 hour from Geneva and a straightforward journey from Calais along the autoroutes

We stayed here once, on a 2-centre holiday (Houlgate in Normandy was the other place) - the Jura has some spectacular scenery and we had a couple of days out in Geneva, which is beautiful (although alarmingly full of dogshit for such a clean country)

Greensleeves - I live near Nice and would be happy to help with recommendations.

Where you are staying near "old town" ("Vieux Nice") is quite central and very lively as well, with cafes & restaurants, and a large part of it is made up of pedestrian areas.

If you will not have a car, it's probably best to stick to the train, and take daytrips to Cannes to the west and Villefranche and Monaco to the east. Two more stops and you will be in Italy, so you might to do that, too. St Tropez is not a very good idea if you don't have a car, by the way.

I will look back on this thread to answer any questions you may have. Hope you have a great time.
