Has anyone been to one in Orlando? Are they worth booking.

We went to the Winnie the Pooh one and also the Mary Poppins one in the Grand Floridian(different trips- not serial/cereal breakfasters!!). Got some great photos as they come to your table and join in, kids really enjoyed it(ok so did we all) Worth an experience as it starts your day off well. We also sat beside some famous people but I can't remember who!!!!Obviously the characters were much more interesting.

how old were your DC - and which would anyone recommend for 4.5yo DS (I don't think DD (6mths) will really care

sammac · 18/04/2007 20:04

Last time dd was 10 and ds was 3. Time before maybe 7sh. At mary P we were greeted by her at the door and then we saw Alice, MAd Hatter, Tigger, Pooh and others- they circulate round the table. I thought that ds would be wary but he was right into it.

You can also have character meals in the parks but have to book them too. We had lunch with Aladdin, Princesses the genie and loads of others( maybe in MGM) and they got the kids up dancing and really interacting with them.

There's an afternoon tea party with Cinderella in the GF as well, and presumably similar in other hotels. Can't remember where we had breakfast with pooh first time.

StyleCouncil · 18/04/2007 20:12

We are staying off site though in a Villa does this make a difference when booking the breakfast. What does GF mean sammac?

If you are staying off site and the character breakfast is not part of your Disney ticket - book now! Well in advance. We had no chance when we left it till we got there.

First time we did the breakfast at the big hotel near Magic Kingdom - can't remember name - the one the train thing goes through the centre of! It is Mickey and freinds. It was great. Lots to eat and got to see all the characters

Would also recommend lunch in the Magic Kingdom at the Crystal Palace, with Winnie the Pooh and friends. You don't need to book well in advance - can do it on the day no problem.

We were unable to book any of the Princess character meals/tea parties when we left it till we arrived!

sammac · 18/04/2007 20:19

Sorry- it was the Grand Floridian - on eof the Disney hotels.

exbury · 18/04/2007 20:27

Thanks. Will check out the current options and book something. Fortunately DS is not all that bothered about princesses so no need to stress about them

kslatts · 18/04/2007 20:41

We went to florida last year and didn't book any character meals before we went, we waited until we got there and were very lucky to get a table at Cinderella's castle which was a cancellation, we are hoping to go back when we have saved enough money and will be booking before we go.

Dinner at Cinderella's castle was really magical, it was expensive in comparison to other restaurants but you got a lovely photo with Cinderella and there was a show while you ate.

CrocOShite · 18/04/2007 20:44

We had tea with Winnie the Pooh & Friends in Disney World when dSs were 4.5 and 2.5. They were utterly entranced by it, over the moon. The looks on their faces in the photos is just magical

SecondhandRose · 22/04/2007 13:43

Book the Chef Mickey breakfast on the 4th floor of the Contemporary hotel. I think you can book 180 days in advance. The first 2 or 3 days the kids will be awake early so make the most of it and book a 7am breakfast.

I will second the advice about booking early, who wants dinner at 3pm?

Get yourself a book called The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2007 available from Amazon. Fantastic Disney 'Bible' - excellent info.

We did a character breakfast at Animal Kingdom on Christmas Eve when we went, it was fabulous.

Really fancy a dinner at Cinderella's Castle when we go this Christmas, but not sure the boys would be that thrilled.

lovelymoo · 22/04/2007 15:01

did the winnie pooh character breakfast in March at the Crystal palace in magic kingdom.

Fantastic is the only word for it. Was the highlight of dd's (2.9) holiday.

Don't hurry through your meal. It takes about 90mins for all of the characters to come out and do their circuits visiting each table.

twinsetandpearls · 20/08/2007 23:44

My dd had a charactar breakfast at Epcot, it was the princess stroybook one and it was one of the highlights of her holiday and I got to have a huge breakfast in an air conditioned room. I woudl recommend them.

twinsetandpearls · 20/08/2007 23:45

The cinderelle breakfast at the Grand FLoridian gets booked up as soon as it comes available, we struck lucky and got places at Epcot a few weeks before we left.
