Can I clock up airmiles if work have booked and paid for my flight?

Just that really. I’m starting a new job in 2018 which involves both long and short haul travel approximately 8 times a year. New employer has booked me onto my first trip and today sent details of flights and accommodation, does anyone know if I can benefit from the thousands of miles I’ll be flying over the next year? Or are airmiles only able to be clocked up when you book and pay for yourself? Will post in Employment thread also.

Thank-you.

Pretty sure you can link any flight you take to your frequent flyer number, regardless of who organised the flight.

If it's Avios then yes, you just input your flight details to your account online Grin

Yes and hotel points. I'm surprised inland revenue haven't been after them yet as a benefit.

Some employers don't allow you to collect points - some govt depts don't.

We are not allowed to do this. You need to check with your employee.

It depends on your employers code of conduct. We are specifically not allowed to claim a benefit from hotel stays or travel paid for by the employer

Your employer might have a policy. But everywhere I have worked is fine with you clocking them up for work trips. I never manage to spend any of the bloody things on flights though. Now you can use them for food and drink on BA shorthaul I feel it is proper to use them for that if I am buying something, but there's no requirement to do so.
